Have you contacted the Manufacturer about this issue?

If you have, then please PM the Staff account with the answer and we will unlock the thread.

Spent a good part of yesterday afternoon working with prints and both of our suppliers of carriers.
The carrier is absolutely in spec per print.
(just as Mark15 stated very early in the thread)

    Here is the specific info:
    1) As it relates to cutting the forward assist grooves; "RESULTANT NICKS PERMISSIBLE THIS CORNER ONLY", respective to print -pointing at the top end of rail. (The nicks are not allowed to go through the bottom edge.)

    2) Each of our suppliers also supplies this product per .gov contract and per the pictures in this thread the carrier is good to go per Uncle Sam.

    3) If the carrier is made per print, there can NEVER be a resulting bur. Those edges are ground AFTER milling (and heat treat). There won't be a bur if it ground. Feel the metal on that section of rail. It is smoother than the rest of the carrier body. It is a ground surface (^32).

    4) My 6920 looks the same way.

    However,
if as a owner of BCM gear, if you still don't like the BCG - please send it back for a full refund.

    Thanks,
    Paul

I can't see how this would affect any part of function.

    This is so silly.

Shot mine today no issues at all. Great rifle.

And Paul as always, great customer service.

Both of my uppers (LMT 10.5" and BCM 11.5") with BCM F/A bolt carrier groups go BANG when I pull the trigger, and also extract the rounds and fling those bitches pretty far.

    Does anything else matter??

My thoughts as well. Nice to see that even though it would not affect the function of the BCG, Paul is still willing to replace the part just to have happy customers. Yet one more reason why I am pretty much buying BCM gear from hear on out.

Here is a problem. A forum member posts pictures and asks a legitimate question: "Is this acceptable or not?" He is talking about specific problems about parts he has bought with his own money. He has already made a good faith attempt to contact the supplier, but has not yet received an answer.

But then he foolishly "touches the dragon's scale" by naming a specific retailer.

The forum "moderators" or "staff" (whatever those titles mean) then shut down the thread until the poster gets a response from the supplier and copies it to the Staff.

In my experience (about $650 in purchases to date) BCM is a good outfit that sells good stuff. But, just for the sake of argument, what if BCM had decided that they had indeed screwed up, and that the best method of damage control is to ignore Number 9XD's concern? That couldn't possibly happen, you say? How about the last time you tried to get some supposedly free warranty work done on your car at the dealer? Or tried to get your Sony computer repaired under warranty? How did that go for you?

Or what if BCM was simply too busy to respond? Would the thread still have remained locked and the discussion muzzled permanently? Why should the thread wait on the convenience of a retailer?

Is the forum a place for the members or is it just a shill for the suppliers that fund the website?

When staff "lock down" or close a thread like this, they are stopping discussion. It creates the appearance that they are protecting a retailer from negative comments. Who's interests does this serve?
