Full auto in a semi auto?

Just put together a spikes lower with a DD LPK, (the rest of the gun is a spikes upper and BCG with a 14.5 middy DD barrel with DD gas block, standard buffer spring and as supposedly h buffer but no h mark). Shooting PMC .223. Took the gun to the range today and started
shooting and it was on full auto. The longest string of auto I shot was about 7- 9 rounds. Being very confused and questioned by the off duty LEO on the lane next to me, I did a functions check. It was releasing the hammer when I let go of the trigger after holding it down and charging. I took it apart and observing the mechanism it would do one of three things at that point in the functions check. a- nothing, b- release the hammer and c- function normal. I used the search function and couldnt really find anything about this specific problem. and as a note I never had this problem when my other lower was on this gun.

Your post is rather muddy and confusing. First thing is you need to STOP FIRING THIS WEAPON IMMEDIATELY. Even though it is malfunctioning you can still be charged by BATFE.

What type of LPK is this? A semi-auto one or a full auto one? Just asking because people have done it before.

There is more than likely something wrong with the disconnector or spring. I would get another LPK (even from the other lower) and swap over the FCG and see if it happens again. Or just the disconnector and spring and see what happens.

if it goes auto again then you need to stop and get with someone in the area who can help you. I am not sure that consulting with DD, Spike's or whomever will help since it is a Frankengun.

This is a good example of why you should start test firing a new weapon with only a one or two rounds in a mag.

Did this, my post wasnt very clear, it did not start right away, I actually reconfirmed my zero with 3 rounds first, then loaded a 20 round mag and my problems started, it doesnt do it every time just most of the time, which is the weird thing (to me at least). Also the functions check I performed when I initially put it together was good. Iraqgunz: it is a semi LPK, and yes I did stop shooting the gun immedately, put it in my truck and enjoyed the remainder of my pistol ammo. Thanks for your help guys and I will be posting the resolution once I get it sorted out. The frustrating thing is I like shooting more than being an armorer (my fault for building my own gun I guess)

I'm going to throw out a crazy idea. Did you compare the BCG's. The surface of the BC that contacts the auto sear. Were their any defects or abnormalities? This could effect the timing of the rifle.

Its the same BCG as all along, the only thing I changed is a new lower with a new LPK. That being said I did just pull the BCG out and inspect, I didnt find any abnormalities on the BCG or the surface of the sere. Thanks though I'm here to learn from others past experiences and throw out some of my own when I can help somebody, the amount of experience on this site is unbelievable.

So, Gunz, did a buffer change fix the problem?

He doesn't have an auto sear, it's a semi auto weapon that is malfunctioning.

If you are referring to my situation I didn't have extra buffers available due to ITAR restrictions. I also assumed it was a "temp fix" and that wasn't something I wanted. I replaced the barrel and all was good.
