    Remington 870 Marine Magnum?

    Hey guys:
I'm looking at getting a good shotgun for HD use, (to augment the obligatory AR, etc), and have had my attention drawn to the Remington Marine Magnums. I suppose it's the "ooohhhh...shiny" reflex.

Anyways, what is the difference between this and the police model? I've looked around, and can find no good answers.
    Thanks!
    -Adam

Not sure about the differences, but I had one several years ago when I lived in the Pacific Northwest and it was really nice. The brushed finish isn't really shiny at all and held up to the moist environment.

the difference [at least IMHO] between a tactical and marine is the marine has a very good factory rust/corrossion finish,,the tactical is parkerized,, plus the marine has a speedstock factory installed that holds 4 extre shells. price difference is approx. 200$ in this area,,i purchased a tactical few months ago 'cause i couldn't find a marine.

Is it correct that only the XCS Marine Mag (w/ the black trinyte finish) has the speedstock & the brushed finish Marine Magnum doesn't come with the speedstock?

I have a regular marine mag (nickle finish) and it has a regular 870 stock.

if you can, or have found a nickel-finished marine at a good price, you can get the speedstock for approx. 75$,,and come out ahead price-wise. some of the guys had posted about problems with the speedstock, i ended up installing a mesa adapter with an endine recoil reducer and e-mod stock. actually a pretty spiffy little rig, topped with trijicon sights. i still need to add a side-saddle for 6 more shots with me.
