    Zeroing BUIS

I am trying to zero my BUIS at 25 yards with a 14.7" M4. One shot may be on the x while the other two might be an inch or two off the x (to the right and to the left. How I supposed to know which way to adjust the corresponding windage/elevation? And with this zero at 25 yds., how far will I be able to shoot without adjusting my zero? Your insight is greatly appreciated.

What BUIS, what ammo? Generally, the most common theme for your BUIS is to do a 50yd zero which is repeatable @200yd with most 55gr or 62gr ammo, bearing in mind that confirming at 200yd is highly recommended.

Works for most BUIS configurations. Hit the Search function to look other threads about zeros for more info.

First you need to try different types of ammo to see what groups the best in your gun. After you find a ammo that gives you good groups and serves your purposes then you sight you gun in. The way your gun is shooting now makes me think you might possibly be jerking the trigger instead of slowly squeezing it. At 25yrds you should have a group of 1" max with any ammo you are shooting through it.

Thanks Riverine and RemMan 700. I'm shooting 55 gr. PRVIs using Troy Ind. BUIS. So just to make sure, if my shots are within 1" of the x (regardless if they are to the left and right), then is it zeroed? Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

"zeroed" is putting all of your rounds where you want them with precision. You do not want the rifle zero off to the left or right of your point of aim. POI can be up or down depending on the distance you want your zero to be at.
