Colt is available at Brownells, but it's not inexpensive @ $115.

After paying $200 for a LPK (that doesn't include the pistol grip) and $115 for the receiver extension alone, it'd be better economically to just buy a complete Colt AR and sell off what you don't want.

Definitely. The sum (16" BBL w/sight, BCG, LPK, receiver extension tube) = $1050!

    What do you guys recommend?

Does Colt even make their LPKs in house? If not, who makes 'em, and who else gets their LPKs from the same source?

AR lowers and LPKs that I have built since November 08...

1.) DPMS with DPMS LPK... All parts in kit, very rough trigger (really bad actually).

2.) Rock River Lower with M&A Parts LPK...Much smoother trigger compared to DPMS. Missing bolt catch roll pin but had 2 extra rear take down springs and detents.

3.) Calvary Arms Lower with M&A Parts LPK...Same parts missing as ABOVE.

4.) S&W M&P Lower with Double Star LPK... Smoothest trigger than all the above mentioned and all parts were in the kit.

5 thru 8) Rock River Lowers and Double Star LPKs... same as 4.)

I got a chance to work on (strip and clean) 3 Satg ARs and 1 S&W M&P15 that were purchased as complete rifles and they all had the same markings on them as the Double Star kits and had the same "feel" in the trigger pull. I have an older lower receiver with a Colt LPK installed and it is smooth but the trigger pull seems to be about a pound heavier.

I have about 1800 rounds through the S&W M&P with the Double Star kit (#4)and it is smooth and there have been no reliability issues. I am not going to say that the Double Star kits are better than anything else but I have a couple more lying around and I will use them and when they are gone, I most likely will buy them again. I paid $64.00 Each for them when we did a small group buy of 10 Rock River Lowers.

I had this happen to me last Sunday, only it was a Stag pin. I'm thinking it might have been putting ~1500 rounds of .22lr and ~300 rounds of .223 and not cleaning the lower. I'm thinking of getting one of those lower plugs to keep out gas, carbon and debris.

I am not sure if people are aware of this or not, but you can basically order our LPK (piece by piece) less the trigger and hammer on our website.

F'in figures. Since I decide to hold off on snagging parts for the build, until I can sort out the LPK mess, I start spending the gun fund on stuff to pimperize my other roscoe.

Oh well, at least I finally found a damned CTR. Trying to find that was almost as bad as the rest.

I thought the AR-15, panic-buying, full-court press had simmered down.

All I need is a .154 hammer and trigger (semi). Do you have anything in stock?
