    Question Vltor Casv-m

I have been looking at different rail systems for a while, and came across the Vltor Casv-m. After looking around for a bit I found about 2 threads dedicated to the Casv systems which were not substantial enough to dictate the immediate purchase of a $300 dollar item.

There seems to be little user reviews or thoughts on the Casv, and I was looking for some input from those that own/have handled them.

Also, the DD omega (9.0) is similarly priced to the Casv-m. If you own both or have handled both the Omega and Casv, which do you prefer and why?

I have a midlength gas system, and don't want to go through the hassle of removing my front sight block/flash hider. If there are other midlength rail systems that are 2 piece I am open to suggestions.

    Thanks for your time,
    -Dot.Com

The man replies by saying: "That? that's my wife you bastard! She's stood by my side for years and has always done her duty. She's stayed with me throughout all the fighting, has never failed to keep the fire going, and can kill a man without breaking a sweat!"

The other man quickly tries to cover his embarrassment, but as he turns away mutters under his breath - "could've sworn it was an AR-15..."

I ran into the same problem when doing research on the CASV HGs, not enough info to be had. I'd interested to hear from a CASV owner as well.

C4iGrant has a lot of time logged with that rail system. Ask him.

I've got two, built one, building fourth

I've got two 'active' CASV rails, built one for a nephew and have a fourth under works: love the rails, have no regrets, wish I had one for an AR-10. To me, they're comfortable enough to handle long term and easy to modify the set-up. It took all of 5 minutes to put them on, and another 5 to ready them the way I want. I have the option of using all rails and sides or just the top, or... The finish is durable for daily use and looks nice. I have one tan, one green and one black that was painted (I don't like black..call me a 'racist' when it comes to guns). I have a PRI on an AR10 and have played with DDs but the CASV is by far the easiest to add and remove. I'm no longer a warrior, just an old retired fart that knows what I like and can use it well. I don't play in the rocks and dirt often, but have had no problems with the handguards when I do.

i did a short writeup on my site here:
    http://militarymorons.com/weapons/ar.uppers.html#casvmg

do you have any specific questions about it that i didn't cover? it's a nice handguard. wider than most when you add rails where you want them, but it's easy to install and very solid since it's attached to the receiver.

    Thanks Aardvark and Military Moron.

It seems like a good piece of equipment - that review on mm was great, I managed to browse the site for a while and was quite impressed.

I guess all I have to do now is find one in stock.

    Thanks.

I liked mine. Nice and solid, dissipated heat very well, didn't add too much weight. Can't say much more about it. Did its job well.

    Pic time.

87GN, what is that handguard on the bottom there?

I have seen that piece in another picture but I haven't been able to find it.

It's a Tango Down panel for the Mk46. Or Mk48. Or something like that. I beat up a SEAL and took it from him.
