That seems to be the case. From EOTech's site:

■Average battery life at brightness level 12 is roughly 500-600 hours, 3X battery life of N cell sights

That is wth one 123 battery.

I don't think I see much variance in the price, all seem to be in the $469 range. Nothing lower. Quite a few places are offering that price.

I'm very interested in this one as well. I've longed preferred the EOTech reticle, but reliability complaints always made me shy away.

Great to here JFreuler! I think we finally found someone to give us a no BS assessment of this little red dot. If you do purchase one, please keep us posted. Which reticle did you use? I think they have 1, and 2 dots if I read the Eo website correctly. Thoughts?

The model I used was the XPS3-0 and yes they have a model with 2 dots. I do not need the extra dot nor do I need it to be NVG compatible so I will be purchasing the XPS2-0 model. After getting some time behind it over the last couple of days I'm somewhat excited about this optic and what it has to offer. However, the optic that I was able to use had only been on the rifle about a week so only time will tell about it's durability. The rifle that it is mounted on will see some serious use over the next few months so I will be able to get some honest feedback about it's durabilityand reliability from the owner very soon.

That there 10,000 hour battery life is the real clincher for me. I wish to upgrade to a high end RDS this winter, and there is only Aimpoint offering the massive battery life (that I am aware of). I like the concept of saving money, especially when the product your getting at the reduced cost will perform similar to the more expensive product. This particular product seems to be less expensive because they removed a large part of the value by cheapening the electronics and offering battery life on par with my $90 Millet RDS. So, this is like buying a Millet SP-1 for $400.... that is not a good deal to me.

WARNING: Topic drifting ahead! Sorry, but I got all excited......

Holy crap bat man! ACOGs are like $1200!

F that. This poor boy wont ever have that kind of stuff.

Honestly, I never before looked that close at the ACOG, but that thing looks to be pretty bad to the bone. Tritium and fiber optic, works good in high or no light and every where in between.... Can any of you grab me up one for Christmas please? I promise to use it often and I will really appreciate it!

If your ordering it for me, please get the TA648MGO-G: 6x48 Trijicon ACOG® with Green Chevron Reticle and Accessory M1913 Rail.

That is the one I am putting on my Santa list!

Just went into Buds Gunshop and they have the XPS's on order. Hopefully if the price is right, I will grab one and try it out for myself. Everyone complains about the battery issues with the Eo. The XPS have them loaded sideways now and I should hope that fixes the main problem.

For what its worth, I would just change out my 123 battery in my Eotech every couple of months. From what I hear, Eo may have actually done things right finally with this new sight...
