I used the knurled shumbscrew on mine instead of the allen-head screw. Any thoughts on one vs. the other?
I'd use the Allen bolt unless I wanted to be able to remove it immediately with a coin, screwdriver, etc. I also mount EOTechs as far forward in the rail channel as possible. Not sure that it matters with the sideways battery of the XPS, but it does apparently help reliability in the 5XX series (preventing the piston/battering ram thing)

The allen screw and 17 inch pounds of torque are what is recommended. If I can find where I read that information, I will share it. We just ran patrol rifle evaluations last week and all the guys that run the thumbscrews came loose. Another good tip is to make sure that when you mount any optic to your rail to push it FORWARD before tightening it down. If it is to the rear, recoil will work it forward causing it to loosen and loose zero. Come to think of it, that information may be in the owners manual.

I use the knurled knob, too. I run mine right at the front of the receiver and need to pull the XPS if I want to remove the upper MOE HG. It's "nickel tight", meaning as tight as I can comfortably get it with a nickel coin. This wasn't an exhaustive test, but it didn't loosen up any Saturday after 200 rounds which was all my wallet could stand for the day.

I plan to pick up a GG&G QD for it at some point.

I used the knob precisely because of the other shooter I witnessed drop his optic. In his case he was lucky that he had brought along the right allen wrench, but I'd hate to have the thing fall off and not have the right tool to put it back on.

Same here. I actually keep a coin duct taped to the side of my stock in case that ever happens.

Despite having the directions nix it, I still loctited mine on. No problems with it rattling off or shifting zeros on both mine.

Iv only put 240 rounds through the gun with my new eotech, and I checked after each magazine to see if it was coming loose. No problems yet, very happy with it. My coworker had never shot a gun in his life, yet was able to hit a 12"x12" plate at 200yrds.

I use the knob for this reason as well. It's more "field" friendly. I locktite...

Kyle Defoor discussed EOTech mounting on his blog here. He recommends the knob for the same reason you do.

A bit off topic but does anyone know of any dealers that are selling the EXPS line?
