As long as I throw batteries in it every 2-3 months I should be good to go. Its here now sitting in my living room still in the box the brown truck brought it in. Should I keep it and hope it run's like a "RAPED APE" or send it back for a bigger Eotech or even look at some ML3's? I have always used Eotechs like most my department and have never had any range time with the Aimpoint. What the He$$.....
I was all excited about getting it and then the last few posts have me second guessing!

I might be struggling with the same decision in your shoes but I'm not. I don't work in LE.
It's not very hard to find rabid fans of both optics. Easier to find critics of EOTechs. The two SF NCO's of my acquaintance became hooked on EOTechs during their tours of both current theaters of war. Battery life notwithstanding. One of those showed me his Iraq EOTech. It is beat to hell with hardly any paint on it. He said it had an electrical issue and ate batteries. But he said he'd change to fresh batteries every day because he so preferred it's attributes.

I say keep it. I am a LEO, have a Colt 6920, and started with the model 556 Eotech... then sold it to another guy at my department. I shot over 2,000 rounds with the Eotech and it never had a hiccup. I purchased an Aimpoint T-1 after hearing all the great reviews and mounted it on a DD mount. After months of range time, serving search warrants in residential houses, businesses, clearing yards, etc, I just couldn't get used to the Aimpoint compared to the Eotech. I guess my problem was that I needed to have a "good" cheek weld (I have a Magpul ACS stock) before I could see the red dot in most instances. I found myself trying to find the dot multiple times when I was in any position that was slightly unconventional (Yes, I keep both eyes open). For CQB scenarios, which I am mostly exposed to at work, the Eotech (For Me) was much easier/faster to acquire, thus my reaction time and shots on target were much better than the Aimpoint. I purchased an Eotech XPS 2-0 and haven't looked back. Don't get me wrong, I loved the battery life, ruggedness, and light-weight of the Aimpoint. It was a hard decision to go back to the Eotech at first. I really tried to make the Aimpoint work for me, but I couldn't. I think a lot of it boils down to personal preference. I think the Aimpoint is a superior product as far as build/battery life, but the Eotech 65 MOA dot and large window wins in my book for CQB. As far as the XPS goes, I am very happy with it and have it mounted on a YHM Eotech mount for lower 1/3 co-witness. Maybe if I had one of the larger model Aimpoint's, it would have worked out better for me, but who knows. So far the XPS has been great and I haven't had one problem. As far as battery life goes, I always turn the XPS off when my carbine goes back in the trunk. With a push of the button I am back in business and try to change out the battery about once a month. This routine has worked well for me. As far as the Aimpoint VS Eotech argument goes, in my opinion, it boils down to what works best for the shooter and what type of environment/conditions he/she is exposed to (Marine/soldier in Iraq/Afganistan, VS LEO in a larger metropolitan city, VS LEO in an unincorporated rural area, VS a sport or hobby shooter).
I agree with shooter's assessment for LEOs.
The Eotech XPS is fast and forgiving on cheek weld.
As an LEO we usually are on the tail end of reacting to deadly force and need to put rounds on target like yesterday. There is not much offensive engagement in our job.
The Eotech in my opinion is faster at this than the Aimpoint. It dies give up battery life, robustness, etc. But we don't have the same battlefield enviroment or engagement parameters as soldiers.
My LEO opinion.
Love my new XPS-2.
VIOLENCE OF ACTION..........DON'T HESITATE.
30n1 and shooter,
I am greatful for your encouragement. I am just going to run the damn thing and probably like it. I have always used Eotech's and never had a problem other then some battery neglect on my part. Like shooter said, I am afraid to go Aimpoint and end up not liking it.
By the way, the XPS is the is so ugly looking on my rifle that I love it!Waiting to get some range time in on it. Also as a side note, I have read tons of information on the Eotech and numerous people have talked about some of the SF not being able to part with their Eotech's. They simply love them....

Until recently, I have never heard of a company called Larue Tactical in my life. Several of my LEO's partners recommended them. I checked out the website and decided to go with them over Botach. (I wanted the LT110 also). I wanted everyone to know that the customer service was awesome when speaking to them on the phone. Inside my box was the Eotech, riser, 2 bumpers stickers, a ball hat, and some kind of Dillo Dust meat rub and a "beverage opener". I am really impressed with LT and wanted to pass along the kind words I have for them.![]()
I am headed down to the departments range tomorrow to put this ugly beast thru its paces for the first time. Really looking forward to posting my thoughts afterwards. Will see!

Got to the range today and mounted the XPS on the LT 110 riser with my range master. He kind of looked at me funny when I had the riser on. After attempting to zero in my irons at 50 yds, my range master wanted to shoot some round's with the riser. We both agreed that you could barely line up the rear BUIS with the front thru the XPS. The rear was just barely tall enough to squeak by the bottom lip of the RDS glass making it difficult.
We removed the LT 110 riser and fired some additional rounds. Both of us for some reason like the XPS mounted on the rail of my 6940. The riser makes it almost impossible to shoot irons in my opinion. Anyways, I loved the XPS. Only had time to zero it in due to a class waiting to use the range. As far as the riser, has anyone had this problem? (fingers scratching my head). The range master smiled at me and said "I would toss that riser and also look at replacing your rear BUIS. That lollipop contraption will snap off or bend when you least expect it".

You could argue that the Aimpoint, which might be on may not be set at the right intensity level for the application you need it for as well. Sure it might be on, but the picture that is presented may not be at all ideal. Same problem with the EOtech even if it is still on.
While on patrol you simply check your sight to make sure it is a) on and b) set at the right intensity level for the conditions from time to time. Shouldn't check your brain at the counter once you pick up and Aimpoint and figure you'll never have to mess with it once you turn it on.
I'm hoping that the EOTech and Aimpoint can take a look at the Insight MRDS's "auto-intensity" adjustment. The one thing I like about the Insight (other than it's environmental rating for a sight that size) is that it will auto adjust or you can manual adjust it as well. Definitely a cool feature the big boys at Aimpoint and EOTech need to look at.
