The inside of the carrier looks fine as does the outside etc. Im thinking BKB is probably right about the park job. I wasnt sure what kind of finish that is on it. or if they finished them at all. I still dont know much about the AR platform lol im an AK guy my self

I wasnt bashing DD at all nor was I trying to, I would not hesitate to purchase another Upper, BCG, Lower or any of there other products they offer. I think they are a great company.

I was trying to figure out if the bolt was supposed to look like that after firing such a low round count. Or it was actual pitting corrosion which would/is a bad thing to have on something as the bolt.

AIM is an internet vendor website. Im pretty sure they are an authorized vendor of DD rifles and parts because they seem to sell alot of there stuff. www.aimsurplus.com check them out. I will be calling DD on monday, if they tell me to take it up with AIM surplus I will call them I have faith in both companies so like I said im not trying to bash any one etc.

I would just email the pictures to DD and see what they say.If they have had some issues like this they will be the folks to know.Thier customer service is first rate so Im sure they will be straight foward.

Other than that,it may just be the picture, but it looks like some of the pits/rough surface appear to be parked over.Especially the bearing surface/ring of the bolt.

    DAMN!

I have about 4k of corrosive 5.45 through my S&W upper without cleaning, it looks WAY better than that and only the "tail" of the bolt has any hint of corrosion.

I'd like to see the follow up to this...

I shoot alot of corrosive 5.45 in my AK's and the worst ive seen was minor pitting on the bolt face(kit build from an old military rifle) and very minor pitting on the bolt face of brand new kits. I normally wait a few days to clean to.

I will keep every one posted, I will try to email pics later this evening to DD

I didn't clean mine for about 6 months...I wanted to see how bad it would get.

I just checked the bolt and barrel in one of my rifles I recently shot Brown Bear in.

    It was fine.

If you had shot corrosive ammo uncleaned, your flash suppressor would likely be red by now.

Also, you may want to consider waiting for the vendor/manufacturer to respond (or not) to your issue before posting anything more about it than what you have. Give them a chance to resolve your issue. I think that you'll find DD very responsive.

Is AIM an auction house of some sort? That acronym stands for AOL Instant Messenger, to me. Reason I ask is that somebody may have swapped the bolt prior to your purchase. You said NIB, but...well, was it still sealed? The DD website does not show that they are selling the XV upper, so unless it's just not on the website and you got the upper from somebody else's rifle purchase, I'd hazard to guess it could be used, and used by an idiot.

The chances that a bolt from DD would be in that condition are pretty slim, and statements have already been made about your low round count.

I think that this AIM entity should be your first contact.
You've never heard of AIM Surplus?????

Anyway, I've put hundreds and hundreds of rounds of Brown Bear through my DPMS and I can tell you it's not corrosive because I didn't clean it very often after shooting the stuff. If AIM doesn't make it right, then contact DD. I emailed them a question the other day and had a response within two hours.

I just hope my DD BCG doesn't turn out like this.

AIM is very reputable. I doubt your bolt was swapped while there. Who was your dealer?

I purchased the complete upper from AIM, I built the rifle on a S&W lower. Ive delt with AIM for a few years now and never had any issues with them. I honestly dont suspect any foul play here, I think it was just a defective product. Shit happens I guess lol.

Thankfully I purchased another complete DD BCG so the rifle is still in commission!

Does DD put any unique identifying marks on the bolt?
