After YEARS of PENNY PINCHIN Ready to Dive IN!! 1st AR15's..Input HUMBLY Requested!

GREETINGS EVERYONE!! I'm super excited to have found this site and to be a part of this community/world!! AR's ROCK!!

A quick background on where I'm coming from..not lookin to complain or askin for sympathy but just laying it out there for yall to see where I'm at and coming from..

I love guns..plain and simple and have always loved the AR-15 line, particularly the m4 build, i.e. m4a1....I am not nor have been rich in my life..and being out of work for ALMOST a full year now thank you corporate layoff's, does not help..but one does what one has to does.. IT TOOK me FOUR years of penny pinching here and there.. saving every last cent possible without hurting my family in any way!! Lot of hard work and pain to save that much $$$, but I did it.. no beers, no extra burgers when I'm jus hungry or thirsty..ect, ect.. I mean your talking to a guy that doesn't even have/own a cell phone anymore..much less have internet access at home.. BUT i have been able to set aside a nice hefty sum of $3000. Again NOT asking for handouts or sympathy, jus staing facts..and I'm/we not poor or starving or anything like that..but no way in h*LL am I close to being well off..we're talking $2-$5 scrapted here and there over 4+ years, but mainly the last 4 years..

After all that hard, work, odd jobs here and there,, I NOW have $3000 and I'm ready to jus blow that dough!!, Ready to blow it on some Hardware, the AR kind that is..

BY the way since I dont' have internet at home, I have been doing ALL my research at the public library which also allows access to PC's with internet for 1hr a day..They only have a few books on the subject but I read them call, more history of the rifle then anything else tho..so the rest of my research has been online..and at that..about 15min's a day since 45min's is spent JOB searching and applying..fingers crossed..

So here goes.. THIS IS WHAT I want..

    1. a BONE STOCK AR-15/M4, just a regular m4 with carry handle and Iron Sights, and thats pretty much it..

    2. A Tricked OUT AR-15/M4, AFTER serious research, my "tricked" out version seems to almost be a plain jane compared to what I'm seeing, i.e. custom build thread and show off your AR thread, <-- SUPER HOT stuff in there! Basically an AR15/M4 with a scope on it, BUIS's, and a rail system to hold a flashlight and laser! thats it..

here is a picture of it!
Thats pretty much it...I mean to me that WAS tricked out..but after what I seen...but yeah thats what I'm going for.. DOES ANYONE know whats the deal wit the scope on that? make/model, speciality or feature?

    3. a Stock AK-47, I know its not an AR15/m4, but hey its CHEAP!!! Just found out by accident, but the model I'm considering is the Romanian WASR 10 AK-47, $500 and comes with 2 30rd clips, bayonet knife and mount!! I didn't know AK's were that cheap!!

There You have it folks.. thats pretty much what I'm after as illustrated in those 3 points..

    1. stock ar15, obviously I want good quality
    2. good quility ar15 to LATER on as time and funds permit to "TRICK" out...
    3. a good OL' stock AK-47, in case of emergencies and as a backup! hey its only $500

There are so many forums and each and everyone chips in their own 2 cents.., this make, NOT that make, their garbage, THEIR the best and so on.. 1 forum worships Colt, another knocks, it, another says RRA's is #1, ect...another reason why I"m here, this seems to be ALOT better then everything else i'm seein out there!!

From my limited research, it seems COLT 6920 is the way to go.. but Colts are expensive, in Milwauke, WI my neck of the woods they are $1600+.. but QUALITY over quantity ALL THE TIME!! <- would rather pay more for quality v/s a cheapo product that breaks way to soon, needing instant replacement..

OF course I have also heard of the BUILD YOUR OWN route..and HOW that would be so much cheaper..but d*m I know nothing of this nature.. how can I as an amateur build a live "gun" ALSO more importantly..I WOULDN"T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN!!!

I would rather buy...but again I am open to BUILDING, if I can be taught, or I can easily do it and learn on my own..PLUS i would love to do it and feel that, that ALONE would teach me MAnY things about myself and my hardware..

ahh man, WHY is this so difficult!!!

Well guys.. chip in.. any and ALL advise is welcome!! Colt 6920 seems to be the standard by which all the "others" are measured.. but yeah I would love to hear about the model BUshmaster equivalent, or the S&W equivalent..ect, ect..

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!! sorry for my SUPER long essay of a post.. but hey man I'm just trying to learn, be a sponge and soak it all up!

    peace

    oNe

P.S. WHy is this Daniel Defense XV M4 gettin so much play out here? whats so great about it.. its only $1139? thats crazy cheap right?

Considering that BCM now has lowers on the market, you can build a complete BCM Middie rifle with Surefire X300 and an Aimpoint T1 and a good sling and still be well within your budget.

I would build a BCM mid-length and then buy a lot of ammo and Pmags. Then get yourself into a class or two.

The rifle build, ammo, and class should all be within your price range. The DDM4 and the DD XV are also very very good choices.

A search will tell you more information also...

The Daniel Defense XV is the best deal for a complete AR right now in my opinion. It comes with everything you'd want for a first AR

    # Barrel Characteristics: 16″ Cold Hammer Forged, 5.56 NATO Chamber, 1:7 Twist, Chrome Lined, Mil Spec Heavy Phosphate Coated, HP and MPI tested
    # Complete Upper Weight: 4 lbs.
    # Bolt Carrier Group: F/A BCG, HP and MPI Tested, Shot Peened Bolt, Extractor Booster, Properly Staked Gas Key

Also, BUIS rather than carry handle, saving you additional $.

For a little bit more $ you can also get the DDM4, which comes with a great rail system that can be the basis for a "tricked-out" AR

Also, don't you want to set away some $ for ammo, mags, optic, sling, spare bcg etc? I say forget the low end WASR AK for now and save the $.

You can find Colt 6920s online for about $1250 again (if you want a Colt). If you're not looking to free float your barrel then I recommend a Troy MRF-DI rail. If you do then look into the Daniel Defense Omega free float rail. I'd buy a good light mount (Larue or Daniel Defense) and get a Fenix TK-10 or TK-11 to install on the rail. If you're looking at purchasing an ACOG, I'd suggets looking at one personally to see which model and retical you want.

Here's my LMT which I think is stock compared to others I've seen.

I'm not sure about being able to get all three for $3000 unless you wait on the optic. The stock AR will be around $1100 and the "tricked out" AR will run around $1500 (just the rifle and the rail). The optic you have pictured is another $800.

I would get either a BCM build or the DD XV. Put an optic on it and get some mags. There you are at $2000. Then either get the AK or a bunch of ammo (I would go with the ammo since you are likely to go through ammo fast. I just got my AR two weeks ago and have already shot 500rds.)

When I buy again, that is what I will do. You can get an Aimpoint T1 on a LaRue mount for $650. The XV for $1100 and if you want rails it would be ~$250 more (or you can get the DD M4 for $1400). Then get several PMags. If you want to shoot it as a KISS rifle you can remove the optic since it is on a QD mount. I think the ACOG you have pictured will run about $800 if you prefer that optic.

I am no expert and don't claim to be but I have done a fair amount of reading here and have come to the conclusion that this combo would be the best bet for a new rifle.

If there's somebody in your area doing transfers, I betcha Grant could beat that price on a 6920.

Decent lower, decent parts kit, and a BCM upper, bolt, and carrier.

P.S. WHy is this Daniel Defense XV M4 gettin so much play out here? whats so great about it.. its only $1139? thats crazy cheap right?
Because it's built with all of the quality control and premium features that make a Colt so desirable, plus it's got some neat enhancements that the Colt doesn't have (like a better designed mag well) and it does all of that at a price that's a bit lower than what Colt charges.

The XV is an EXCELLENT option for the AR you leave alone or the AR that you trick out later.

Regarding the XV, Clyde Armory has them in stock listed at $999. I think that's a friggin' steal.

Here is a post I gave to another guy, but it may also help you out:

The Daneil Defense XV is a great deal and you'd be hard pressed to build a rifle for that price. However, if you'd like to build, it will give you an intimate understanding of how the rifle functions and give you great insight as to trouble shooting. If you decide to build (and even if you don't) the following may be helpful. Also, there are several good guides on AR15.com (I know, not my kinda place either) and Second Amendment Society.

Buy a lower, you should be able to get one for $100-150. Buy a LPK for $75-100, a stock kit for $75 (be sure to stake the castle-nut), an LMT BCG for $130, and a BCM charge handle for $24. Then wait for a BCM upper ($475) and handguards ($25) to come in stock. You'll have a carbine superior to any you're considering for the same price.

    Here are some links:

    Handguards:

If you want to get a little more reliable, go with the CMMG LPK and order your stock with an H1 buffer. Add this and you're good to go:

    or this:

I would consider putting an Omega Rail (rather than handguards) on the upper, getting a Vicking flashlight mount, a Surefire G2, a Blue Force Gear VCAS sling, a Magpul Enhanced trigger guard ($20) and call it done and spend some time mastering iron sights. Then, after learning irons, get an Aimpoint T1 in a LaRue mount. As you get more experience of what you do an don't like, you may get a different grip. Seems most prefer the Tango Down or the Magpul grips, be it MIAD or MOE. You would then have a great defense rifle.

Skip the WASR-10 at $500. If you really do want an AK (which they are great for what they are), consider saving up a little more and getting an Arsenal. I bought two SLR 107FRs for $700 each at the peak of the rush from Atlantic online.
