    Federal 12ga TruBall Slugs

Anyone tried any of the Federal Tactical TruBall 12ga slugs?

    Opinions?

I have not used them on two or four-legged critters, so I cannot speak to their use in that regard.

I did shoot a box of five from the bench, at 50 yards with a 870 Police Magnum, 20" barrel, rifle sights. It grouped a little over 2 inches center to center, IIRC. They seemed to be very consistent in my shotgun.

I know - my measley little sample of one. But I did purchase another 200 of them for the stockpile. My regular shotgun chow is the Winchester Ranger reduced-recoil 00 buck and slugs.

    Good luck to you, sir.

    If you go here:

    http://le.atk.com/general/irl/catalogs.aspx

and download the Shotshell Data Book it will give gel test info and FBI test info for the LE shotshell line of products.

The LE Truball slugs have the least penetration of any slug I have seen and they look good for HD applications.

The reduced recoil 2-3/4" Truball is about the most accurate slug out of my FN SLP Mk1 but using the iron sights the gun hits about 7" high at 50yds. Because of this I just flip down the sight and use the gutter of the scope mount and just set the fiber front dot on the bottom of the gutter and it works well enough for my use.

I've found the Truball low recoil slug to be the most accurate Foster style slug I have ever tried. They run at 2" groups at the 50 from our Mossberg 500s with ghost ring sights.
