Here are a couple, but I recently read somewhere a post where the word "rotation" was used, but can't seem to find where yet

    DD Omega question....
    JackOSU

like I said in my first post I am not trying to knock these or spread errornet rumor, but just learn what I can before purchase. 99% of what I have read (again that is read on the errornet) has been VERY POSITIVE on DD products and the Omega.
Just to clarify my thread, my issue was the rail getting canted following basic installation instructions. However, once aligned and tightened it's GTG.

On the subject of rotation, here's caporider's post on another thread I started on modifying the Omega.
--"I'm guessing most folks buy the Omega because it is just about the easiest-to-install freefloating rail out there, and we know DD makes a quality product. The top rail being "continuous" is incidental. For me, the fact that I can deflect the rail using hand pressure (it does return to the correct position once pressure is removed, of course) makes it a no-go for bridging across from the upper receiver. There is also no rotational limiter on the rail - it relies on friction against the barrel nut, which in turn relies on being torqued to spec. FWIW, my factory Noveske MPL barrel was torqued to about 15 ft-lb and was missing the gas tube roll pin, so a potential chain of failure modes with the DD rail does exist. The Omega is great for mounting all sorts of stuff, but I personally would not mount up a magnified optic, nor would I bridge over from the upper receiver (I guess I said that already...)."

Mine was due to a loose barrel nut and nothing wrong with the rail. Since it was my first installation of the Omega I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. In the end I did the install correctly each time I reinstalled it etc, but the nut was loose thus the small bit of play back and forth. I have 2 now and they are both GTG.

Thats all sounds great. I am either getting a new Aimpoint this month or the Omega depending on how my spare $ works out and just felt I did not have all the info I needed on the Omega before purchase. Hopefully it will be the Aimpoint M4s, but if that doesn't work then its the Omega and the Noveske Rear Plate. Thanks For All the Great Strait Info!

This thread is a good example of what our current Commander-in-Chief might refer to as a teachable moment...

Now M4Fundi, I hope you don't think I'm picking on you but I would like to use you as an example. You posted:

I had just heard of some complaints of rail rotation and such and thought that maybe there were limitations to such a simple mounting method that could not realistically be expected to hold up to what a more permanent type of mount could be expected to withstand.
When I asked where you "heard" this from you mentioned Col_Crocs and JackOSU, both of whom later showed up and said that neither of them really had an issue and were both GTG with the Omega.

So now we see how rumors get started on the errornet...

Also refer to this thread started by C4IGrant: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=34531

Your point is well taken and fair. I genuinely try and avoid this faux pas as I understand the results it has for members and for the manufacturers.

I did recently read a thread somewhere where they did use the word rotation and I got in on the beginning (issues) and not the ends (prob solved) of the listed threads in question which prompted my thread.

I had major surgery 2 weeks ago and my first solid food just todaySo, I'm pleading Guilt by Percocet

I agree that we should all be more careful about how our comments or questions are worded to avoid false implications.

Sorry for contributing to the Errornet and the defamation of DD

To be fair to DD, I havent seen or heard of anyone else havgin the same issue with rotation.

The DD Omega (like the KAC RAS and other FF rails) rely on the fact that the barrel nut is installed properly. If it is not, this has zero to do with the Omega coming loose.

You also NEVER bridge an optics mount between the receiver and rail (don't care who made the rail). So this is a none issue.

I have an Omega rail on a Noveske Basic upper it is rock solid. Does not feel any different to me than a regl. free float handguard.
