    Recoil reduction for wifes rifle

My wife bruises easily when she shoots her M&P 15x. I want to reduse the recoil for her so she isnt so sore after a range session. It has a CTR stock, would the new but pad from Magpull work? From what I read I am also thinking about an LHT H buffer. Can I use the stock spring? It has about 1500 rds through it. Would these two things, buffer and pad, have a signifigant recoil reduction?
    Thanks for any help.

These area couple recoiul mitigation components I'm thinking of for a lightweight/Girlfriends gun.

    PWS FSC556 Comp: http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/v...9&idcategory=6

    Enidine Hydraulic Buffer: http://www.nokick.com/Enidine_AR_Res...ine_p/earr.htm

How about something along the lines of the Past Recoil Shield's?

Technique is as important as technology.

An H or H2 buffer will slightly reduce recoil.
A Comp will reduce bounce primarily and reduce felt recoil somewhat.
A pad (depending on quality/softness) will reduce recoil.

However, all of these will make very little difference if the shooter is lacking a firm mount. Teachning a shooter the proper amount of rearward pressure that needs to be exerted goes a long way and costs little.

    Exactly!

Getting that carbine pulled back into the pocket will to more to mitigate recoil issues than any gear.

And whatever you do don't put that Enidine garbage in your gun. Great way to take a functional firearm and make it not so.

When putting together firearms for shooters of smaller stature there's a catch-22 in that you want the gun to be light enough for them to field and not get fatigued but then you lose the weight that helps mitigate felt recoil.

I'm betting it's technique though. Get that gun pulled in tighter.

I would suggest an ace entry stock with the extra 1" buttpad. probably the most cushion of any stock out there.
My mind is the weapon, everything else is merely an accessory.

I agree 100% that the real fix will be mostly technique. Here's a pad that my 5-2 112 pound bride uses:

The thin pad fits behind the bra strap -- the metal clips on some bras can be painful. The other trick that works well is to band-sand the back of toe of butt -- if there's enough material to work with. The idea is to slightly alter the angle of the butt pad/plate to avoid digging in to the upper chest. Changing that angle is an old custom stockmaker's trick. Take just a little off , test fit , repeat as needed. Often , the woman will notice an improvement right from the start.

    Hope this helps.

The S&W AR's are typically over gassed. So you can do a couple things. Install a MB and an H2/H3 buffer along with a CS buffer spring.

The last thing is to fill the gas port hole, re-drill it to the mil-standard (.063).

Looks like there's a .55 inch butt pad availble for the CTR. Scroll down to Optional Accessories.
