    Aimpoint Compm2l - question

Just received my CompM2L from Midway yesterday and am now waiting for the mount.

Was looking it over this morning and I put in the battery to see what the dot size and brigthness looks like.

I now have a question. Is it normal to have to twist the brightness knob almost half way around before you even seen a dot, or might I have a defective battery?

With what the projected battery life is supposed to be, I can not believe it should be 'drained' already.

    I have a 2MOA dot size

    Any comments/suggestions will be welcome.

On all of the Aimpoints I've used I've had to turn them up a fair amount to see the dot with a decent amount of ambient light around. The dimmer settings are great in low light but aren't visible in a well lit environment.

For example, I run my Micro on 8 or 9 out of 12 under normal conditions.

Battery life on the ML2 is listed at 1,000 - 10,000 hours depending on brightness setting.

AAAAAHhhhhh . . yes, I was in a well lit room, right by an open window. That might explain the situation.

I believe that the setting you are having trouble picking up are meant to be used in concert with night vision optics.

I believe that the reason Aimpoints have so many very low brightness settings is because of their compatibility with night vision equipment.

That does make a lot of sense.

I knew I came to the right place for the answer to my question.

Now I cannot wait for the mount to arrive - next week only - and get it set up and take it out to go test it.

To the guys that mentioned night vision settings - that doesn't apply here. The ML2 is not NV compatible.

GG&G Aimpoint Cantilever - (GGG-ACM) - got it from Botach for $125 plus shipping. Not the one with the Accucam quick release.
I don't plan to remove/switch/remount the Reddot frequently - if at all. (at least that is the plan for now)
