I am not sure if it had flight control wads or not. I got the ammo over a year ago so its not that new.

I did not know there was a difference and I got some of each today and tested them. I had both in my ammo box and did not even know it. sorry.

As per requested pics of patterns at 7 yards or 21 feet.

At this range the difference between the worst shotgun and the best is a quarter inch.

I also found out the Federal came out with a improved 9 pellet load that has a new wad called Flight controlled. It patterned much better. Here are some pics.

It is truly amazing to see the difference the ammo makes with the same shotgun, fired at the same distance... Our current duty load is the Fed Tac 9 00 Buck flight control wad, and the Winchester less recoil 1oz slug, and I am very happy with both out of an 870...

The Benelli's seem to really like the 12 pellet buck and full power slugs better...

M4 will cycle with the Federal 9 pellet buck both version but it will not cycle with the Remington 8 pellet load. It cycles fine with reduced recoil slugs and that is what I use for three gun. For bear defense I use full power Breneke slugs.
