Paint or silk screen the rules of firearms safety on the side of the magwell. that'd be cool.
As far as I'm concerned, if red is his favorite color, make him happy. I'm glad he's interested in shooting, and gives him something to personalize as his own.
A habit I've noticed with a few fathers on here, is making the kids recite the four rules before each range trip. I think its a great way of ingraining safety.

Puce. It is not cool to paint an AR puce. I am not really sure exactly what color puce is, but any color named puce does not belong on a rifle. Not even a girl's rifle.
PUCE - If my daughter wants a puce AR, I'll make it happen.
