    AN/PEQ-2A Pressure Switch Mounting

For those of you in the know and using the PEQ-2A what is the best way to attach a pressure switch to the unit and secure the pressure switch to the weapon/ rail system? Thanks.

When I was issued one, we used the hook & loop that came in the BII and two zip ties on top of that (on either end so it didn't activate the pad). These days I would probably use a Tango Down SCAR panel with the Insight pad slot.

    This works pretty dang well:

TD panel, with the adhesive velcro to secure it into the pocket. I've since re-routed the pressure cable to take up any slack (i.e I routed the cable in front of the mount and then back to the rear of the PEQ).

Thanks much. I am probably going to get a panel and try it out or experiment with one of the KAC ones that I have.

Let us know how it goes. I run a pressure pad on my 16" gun, but have no pressure pad on the PEQ that's on my 12" Larue SBR. I just reach over with my reaction hand and double tap the top FIRE switch.

I just wedge mine between the 9oclock rail and the 12oclock rail itself if that makes sense, that way I just use my thumb. It keeps my grip and hand position the same for activating my lights and / or lasers. It puts it out of the way and less prone to accidental activation. I have in the past used the tango down rail and put it on my 9oclock rail and used my palm to activate it.

For those who have used them, do you prefer the pressure switch over using the button switch? I have one, but never thought of using it.

I guess I am a bit hesitant to use a PS, just like I am with using one on a flashlight. Granted, an IR light ND is not as bad as a white light ND, unless it is happening to shine into your friend's face .

What is the big advantage that I am missing here?

For defensive purposes...I guess I have always been VERY scared using the constant on feature of any 6-9km IR laser. Bad guys have cheap NV devices as well and we do NOT own the night as we once did. Using an IR laser with someone else is using a NOD to view you can get you killed faster than a white light any day of the week. IR light discipline is a big concern out there and far too many folks we see are sometimes running around with their light sabers engaged. Please disregard for recreational and hunting use....

When I return home I will post a pic of the mod I did to one of my rail panels. I busted out the Dremel and did a little grinding then I did some smart routing of the cable and it worked out pretty good.

Victor- I can maintain IR light discipline fairly well by using the main button. But, I have never bothered to try the switch. I am willing to give it a shot (pun intended).

Gunz- I like your idea of routing the wires, since that is a concern of mine.
