UNCOMFIRMED issues with Ranger ammo in .40 S&W and .223

I heard from a LEO contact out in CA that his department picked up some 40 S&W ranger, and some .223 ranger and during some test fires of the ammo found that some of the ammo would squib load, and some of it would split cases or worse. My guess is some cases are double-charged while others are empty with just the primers. When calling Olin/Winchester, they offered to grace him with gracious amounts of the ammo, but weren't specific about any failings with the ammo. I do not have, at this time, lot numbers of ammo that may be affected.

I realize this is hearsay and I have no direct experience/evidence of this, I figured it was worth bringing up.

Really need lot numbers for a post like that to be of much use, but that just shows you need to test the ammo you are going to use for defensive purposes.

Everyone has bad batches of whatever they produce at some point.
