I just took my sr15 to the farm to get it zeroed. I was doing a 50 yd. zero and damn near had to max out the rear sight windage knob all the way to the right to get p.o.a. and p.o.i. to match up just perfect. Anyone else have this happen w/ their 600m rear? Other than that the groups were outstanding. The gun functioned flawless ,was light weight and ate everything I fed it. All and all not a bad day to do some shootin..![]()
Check your handguard for cant.
the handgaurd looks straight. I locked a larue mount on to bridge the gap and it appeared to be straight. I also looked at the front sight and rear post which both appear good. There may be a canted handgaurd but I should be able to tell...Right![]()
The only input I have for you here is to check and make sure the rear sight is straight when folded down, with equal amounts of black upper receiver on both sides of it.
I've got a couple KAC 600 meter rears (one of which came with my SR-15) and 1 300 meter BUIS. I've never figured out if it's just me and I'm going crazy or what, but when I swapped my KAC 600 meter BUIS for the newer and smaller KAC Micro 600 meter BUIS, I could've sworn it was crooked after I tightened it down, so I unscrewed it and re-tightened it again while pushing down on it and keeping it perfectly aligned and centered as I turned the screwdriver.
But, like I already said, it could've very well have just been me making something out of nothing and over-analyzing such a simple task.
Other than trying that, I got nothin'. Sorry, bro.
You need to check VERY CAREFULLY to see if your bbl is centered within the URX rail. I am betting that if you take a precision rule, and measure from the gas block out to the outside edge of the rail on both sides, you will get a different measurement.
If you have a good eye, you can see a bbl that isn't centered fairly easily.
"ROLL RIGHT SNIPER!"
Thanks for the input. When I unboxed it All looked well. The rear was set to mechanical zero. At 50 yds. I am almost maxxed out to the right . So much so that the sight post kinda hangs over the right side of the upper. I too thought it may be loose or just not on their quite right, so I reattached it and nothing changed. When I returned home I checked the front and rear sight post and they appear straight. I really like the features this gun has to offer, I just can't figure out why it maxxed out at 50yds. If their is or was a gun with an issue It seems like I always get my hands on it....Maybe I have a BRD curse. Thanks for trying to help.

Razor,
You are correct...I think I found the issue. Bbl. or handgaurd is off. I took measurements w/ a machinest's ruler and got two diff. measurements. while I was doing it I noticed that either the bbl. or the urx flexes a great deal w/ only slight finger pressure. Looking down the bore from the front it looks as if one of them has a slight cant. Anyone else getting the flex w/ only slight pressure.. Maybe the bbl. nut was not tight when it was put on? I know these little things happen and have faith that KAC will make it right.
