I got a couple of those in last week. They do look to be a very nice barrel, as are all of DD's.

It should be noted that these are built 100% to Crane spec for the MK18, hence the 10.3" length vs. the somewhat more common 10.5".

I know my AAC would not fit this barrel when paired with a DD 9.0 Lite rail and using the older A2 style AAC mount. I had to use my phantom version to make it work. I also know that DD created a new tool in order to install the A2 and KAC flash hiders on the MK18s they build. It keys off of the slots of the hider on the inside vs. the flats on the outside as there were some interference issues with the rails as well.

I am confused about this. So you're saying the specifications Crane released for the MK18 called for a cold hammer forged barrel? I am having a hard time believing that, but it would be very cool if it were true.

    Interesting info!

I will be purchasing one of these very soon.

I should say that the specs in regards to steel, profile, length, gas port, etc. The cold hammer forging is, I believe, just gravy.

A Smith Vortex does not use a washer. they will continue to tighten themselves on to your barrel (up to a max possible) with use.

As i mentioned, it is not a Vortex, it is a Young, and i was told by the manf and the retailer to use a washer, I am assuming that because it doesnt have the same contour as the Vortex, it does not self tighten from the gas.

Not a vortex, the tines are straight.

You need a crush or peel washer to mount this flash hider.

ETA: eternal24k got it before me. Nice looking upper Bro!
