    MG-34 fun on Labor Day....

Well, there were more guns there than just the MG-34, but the '34 was the crown jewel for me....

My good friend Panzerschreck here on the board is one of the owners of United Armament, a Class 3 manufacturer, and this is his new toy....

WWII MG-34, manufactured by CZ/Brno under German occupation in 1944.

This is the original finish on the gun, it's beautiful. Even late in the war, the standards of machining, fit and finish, were just outstanding.

Me firing and Panzerschreck as A-Gunner.....

Watch in hi-definition...that's a 50 rd. belt.......900 rounds per minute.

Panzerschreck getting some trigger time on his MG-34:

A very small example of other Class 3 goodness that was out there....

    STEN Mk.5

Two old war horses that never met when they were young....the Thompson is a Dutch contract piece that was destined for the Pacific.

One of our buddies who is the owner of the above STEN Mk.5 getting some time on the MP-40....

Excellent time had by all and a huge thanks to Panzerschreck for allowing us to go all Kraut all the time.....

There is a giant bucket of drool under my chin right now......

Good for you, sir! That really looks like you gents had a great time. And that MG-34 is indeed lovely!

I bet the Thompson was a blast. I got to shoot one a long time ago, and had a silly grin on my face for days.

No doubt about it, the MG-34 is the most desirable belt-fed on my list, though I'm a bit surprised the BRNO factory was turning them out that late in the war, when MG-42 production had become the priority elsewhere by that time. The modern-day MG-3 is effectively the same weapon, and still considered one of the Bundeswehr's crown jewels.

I have a G.33/40 that came from the same plant, and here in Europe, the Czechs had a reputation for producing some of the best Mausers (and MGs) of the day; hence, the weapons produced there under occupation were often destined for special units like the Fallschirmjaeger, Gebirgsjaeger and Waffen-SS.

Stand your ground; don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here. -- Captain John Parker, Lexington, 1775.

As a student of small arms through history, two things leap out at me concerning WWII German small arms....

    1) They were decades ahead of their time in design and execution of small arms, and have influenced EVERYONE in the years since the end of WWII.

    2) For a culture that prides itself on organization, WWII German small arms procurement was one of the most disorganized situations I have ever studied.....

Couple more pics I forgot to load...

Do you have any pictures detailing the inside of the feed cover? It entire machine gun looks like such a clean, simple design from the outside.
