Thinking of Swapping my 6940 for a DDM4

Obviously a lot of this comes down to personal preference, however I am trying to figure out if I would really be losing anything if I was to do such a trade.

Daniel Defense Rifles seem to be on par with Colts so I just want to make sure I am not missing anything.

I would, the DD M4 is a much more capable weapon in my opinion. Not to slam on Colt, but there are several rifles I'd buy before a Colt. The 6940 is a nonstarter for me.

Is there a weight difference between the two rifles?

Honestly I would be willing to just about strait out swap. I like the colt but the Handguards are a bit wide for me. And I really like the DDM4 Rail.

Over the years I've owned several Colts and currently own 2 DD's. I've got nothing bad to say about Colts but very much prefer the DD's. Also the 6940 is not on my want list. It might just be total package but by the time you add the rail, BUIS, stock, and reciever plate you're adding lots of dollars.

Same here. A 6940 with a standard FSB would get serious consideration from me.

I handled a DD M4 the first time this past weekend, WOW! I was impressed, the only thing I don't like on the DD is how the rail extends past and surrounds the FSB. If they offered a model that stoped at the FSB it would move to the top of my "next M4" list.

I don't care for the 6940 front sight either. I still prefer the 6920 at this point but a couple of others are defintely moving closer to that top spot.

I have a LMT that I really like and wouldn't get rid of it and I don't know when I'll be able to get another but just a few are at the top of the list; 6920, BCM, Noveske and now the DD M4. By the time I can get another maybe I'll have figured it out
