Hound va - Funny you should mention the 6 o'clock hold. I did that yesterday when I was shooting paper. It did work well for me at 50 yds on that bright orange target. When it gets to be a coyote at 75 that's when I'll probably have a real issue being sure I'm on target before the squeeze.

    Thanks for all your help.

When you say "as far back as possible (butted right up against the BUIS)" do you mean with the BUIS in the flipped up position? Or would that matter? If you have to go to BUIS, the magnifier would be flipped to the side or taken off altogether. Am I thinking about this right?
The way everything fits together, you won't be able to deploy the rear sight without tipping the 3x out of the way. It's an either-or deal. Once you have everything in hand it'll make sense-- they only all fit on there one way. The reason I mention it is that the magnifier needs to be pretty far back on the receiver, so eye relief can be an issue unless you run your stock all the way extended. If that's not comfortable for some reason (short arms, etc), the set-up might not work as well for you.

Based on my experience recently, I think you're on the right track. I attended a 3 Day Spartan Tactical class recently, and Jim emphasizes accuracy at distance quite a bit. I'd intended to run my Aimpoint T-1 primarily with the magnifier, but with my astigmatism I found the Eotech's 1 moa dot worked a lot better for me. Without the magnifier either is fine, but with magnification dots on both sights actually look like stars, or commas, or clovers depending on how tired my eyes are. The Eotech blob is just smaller and tends to be a more consistent shape, which is easier for me to use at distance.

The only issue I found with the XPS is that the adjustment internals suck. The zero didn't wander once it was set, but the dials are mushy and inconsistent, so it took longer to get everything dialed in than I would have liked.

oalocke.........I do shoot with the stock extended. I was thinking that with the magnifier eye relief would come into play with the BUIS. I'm gonna do a little shooting with just the XPS (when I get it) and see how it works out for me. Thanks for the info..

Oh yeah.................BoTach waited 3 days after I placed my order to ship it.

Finally got my XPS. 10 day wait. (3 days after order to ship and 7 days from west coast to east coast) No real problems with BoTach and saved $70 bucks.
Just got to run it the other day. Been raining and my life long buddy fell 30 ft out of a deer stand and is in ICU. It's been a rough 2 weeks.

Anyway........I like the XPS! What a difference for me. I can get on target much faster from offhand or the bench. Found that keeping both eyes open works really well. Getting 1.5 inch groups at 50 yds with PP M193 55gr FMJ. From everything I've read, I don't think this is bad. I'll take it anyway. Haven't had the chance to do anything over 50 yds.

Considering getting dies and doing a little reloading and should be able to improve the grouping.

oalocke.......I see what you mean about the rear sight. The way I have the XPS mounted, all the way forward and just behind were the upper meets the lower, and looking at the magnifier / mounts the rear can't be deployed without flipping the mag out of the way. I'm sure I'll get a magnifier eventually. Gonna run just the XPS for now and get acustomed to it.

    Oh...Here's a pic.
