first of all, I honestly don't understand this concept of choosing firearms according to whether it will "hold its value well". that assumes you intend to sell them somewhere down the road.

When I buy firearms, I do so to fill a specific purpose, I try to buy the best I can afford for that purpose, and then I don't intend to sell them. ever.

If anything, I only want to buy more or upgrade the ones I already have.

other than that, I have no opinion on what you should buy...

Could not possibly agree more. Mine are going to my son, not the chopping block.

They do not profile barrels correctly, proper materials/hardness for the hammer/trigger, no SFL applied to the upper or buffer tube. Gas key and cam pin issues.

I still haven't seen a backplate or lockring that is manufactured in a manner to make it identical to a Colt. On the DDM4 I saw last week, it has the same lockring as what I would see on a RRA, Bushy, etc.

There are a bunch of small things that Colt does that the other "top" brands do not.

To say a BCM or a Noveske meets or exceeds a Colt in every way is 100% factually false.

    Good point, and very true.

I still haven't made up my mind between the two. Maybe I'll sell a kidney and get both.
if your son is starving??? don't sell the gun! keep it, kill something, and then eat that...

seriously, I understand personal economics. but if money gets tight, I can think of a lot of other ways to raise $500 or $1000 that the selling of a gun would bring. or at least the $100 or $200 difference in resale between the two. if that's your main issue, then get the colt...
