Sounds like you should start a side business!

    Try harder....

I have done it a couple times and damn does it hurt!

Not sure of the mechanics involved, but I guess if you have a bit too much meat on the second pad of your finger you get this benefit.

Are you reaching over the top of the latch with your finger to when you charge the weapon?
Yes, reaching over the top with my left index finger, just like in the pics.

Since the latch ends up flush with the handle when pulling it back, my finger pads would get pinched in between the latch and the handle, preventing the latch from sitting flush. I noticed this the very first time I used the Gunfighter CH. You must be using a different method or using the outside of the latch. Which is totally fine. I'm glad it works for you.

The only way I could avoid the pinch was to grab the very outside of the latch. Even with the larger mod 3 latch, this wasn't the best solution for me. I needed a latch that didn't sit flush with the handle when pulled back. Enter the PRI combat latch mod.

I can pinch my left index finger, the inside of my left hand, the inside of my right hand depending on from what body position I'm grabbing the charging handle. If I grab it by pinching it between left thumb and forefinger, it's fine, but that isn't my preference and it limits my flexibility in using the rifle. The design doesn't work for me. I'm gonna try beveling the edge of the pivoting latch with a Dremel, if that doesn't work I'm going to try a PRI. I already know that the Badger doesn't work so well.

I understand that some of you are puzzled, but I am likewise puzzled why, looking at the design, anyone would be puzzled about how someone could conceivably get their finger pinched in this device.

I would like to add that I haven't had any pinching issues as of yet. I must admit that I didn't run much of my Gunfighters for very long in stock configuration and I only have a Mod3 on an SPR that I haven't converted over from the stock latch. I think I will get out the rifle and attempt to pinch myself.

Anyway, my reasons for changing the latch was that I felt like I got a much better, or more positive grip with the PRI combat latch. I felt like I could get a much more powerful grip by keeping more separation between the pointer finger and thumb. The stock latches brings my two fingers too close together and feels more "weak" or "dainty" for a lack of better description. With the separation of the fingers on the PRI latch, I can much more quickly and easily muscle, err manipulate the charging handle. And yes, on a bolt rifle, I am a "grip it and rip it" type.

Just for myself, from this thread and other related threads on this site and elsewhere, I have gotten numerous requests from people to sell them my custom made versions. In reality, the actual cost of the original Gunfighter plus the $20 for the PRI latch, plus my time and shipping etc, really makes the profitability aspect pretty low. I would have to sell them for more than most people would want to pay. It wouldn't be worth my time or someone else expense. This goes for some other custom work that I do. Small items on this small of a scale just isn't feasible.

I will say that I do A LOT of work on rifles and different weapons for friends etc. I don't ask for payment but I tend to get a lot of free beer and food at the local watering hole.

Who know's maybe after I retire, there might be some good side money to be made on the business side of things.

I have bouth medium and large ones for my HK. Initially intalled medium one and get pinched very first time used it. Find out that large one is less "pinchy" as I move my hand away from hot spot so for now it stays. I was thinking that enlarging "pinching" gap beetween handle and latch could solve probem.
