    GREAT stuff - thanks for the story and pics!

    Is there some variant of that STILL in use by Chinese forces, or have they replaced it with something newer?

    If i remember correctly the Qbz-03( type 03) is a modern design in 5.8 derived from the Type 81. Its used but the PAP, and northern PLA soldiers( supposedly because they are a lot bigger and the bullpup QBZ-95 isn't suitable for them.), but I'm not completely sure about the northern PLA soldiers.

    I'm sure they're still being used by military and police forces inside the PRC.

    China also exported a bunch to Sri Lanka and other areas like East Timore.

    Just to add to the comment above, a Marine coworker mentioned seeing them when he did a tour in Djibouti, said he thought it was their issued rifle.
