    I started my son out on a bolt action .22 when he was eight. He shot that to learn the basics and until I saw he was getting bored. That was right before his 13th b-day. At that point I decided he was ready for his first AR. I built the one you see above, and utilized an M261 .22 adapter kit.

    The M261 kit cut down on the cost of training, and after a couple years I sold it and used the funds to purchase a standard bolt and carrier.

    excellent! Nothing like some fun with him while you have the time together!

    I did the same with my son, we got up early-not that early though! Hit the range to shoot the Buckmark and G17 then did some positional shooting with his deer rifle on the Hoppe's full sized deer target. Getting geared up for the season!

    Took him to his football game afterwards, I made the comment to him that it doesn't get any better-spending the day at the range and playing football!
