Out of curiosity, what low profile gas block does BCM use when they build uppers with rails? Would it be possible to have this gas block installed instead of the front sight block on a bare upper?

If I read correctly, The new light weight barrel will be a mid-length gas system. This may not work with a midlength URX. Rifle length URX - yes.

If I remember the middy URX is 11.5" in length. Also remember that the mid-length gas system on the KAC rifles are longer than the middys from BCM and Armalite. BCM is handguard is 9" plus the fsb (appox 2") so I would think that the URX should be 1/2" or so past a shaved FSB.

The rifle length URX on this light weight middy barrel, would be ideal for me.

Oh, i am picturing a low pro has block, just enough rail to do almost anything, and no extra rail weight.

I believe with a mid-URX and BCM mid-length gas system the gas block would contact the hinge for the folding front sight which protrudes into the internal space of the rail. I don't have one in front of me right now to verify, so you may be right, it could clear. Perhaps KevinB can educate.

No matter what, the URX is a slick set up.
