Brand new EOTech XPS lost its zero???

My new EOTech XPS arrived yesterday, so I took it out to the range today to get zeroed. I also purchased and installed the EOTech 3X magnifier, which revealed another problem (I'll discuss in another thread).

Anyway, I zeroed my rifle at 50yds with department practice ammo. I then zeroed my new Troy tritium BUIS (which also revealed a problem that I’ll discuss in another thread…yeah, it was a bad day at the range). Once my rifle was zeroed with practice ammo, I introduced my duty ammo to fine tune my zero. I only had to adjust one click up and one click left. Finally my zeroing was complete. I decided to shoot a few more shots for fun, and when I pulled the trigger, I could not find the bullet hole??? Thought it was me, so I took another shot…couldn’t find it either. So then I took a third shot at one of those stick on shoot-and-see targets and realized my shots were hitting the paper about 6-inches to the right. I flipped up my iron sights to see if the dot and front post were on, and they were NOT. The dot was to the left of my front post. I had to take a phone call and was away from my rifle for about 2 minutes. When I came back, the dot had moved closer to the front sight post. By the time I took my first shot, my zero was back????

Has anyone ever experienced this??? Any explanations or ideas???
And you can save the, “…should have bought an Aimpoint…” comments. I’ve already thought about that, however, I’m sure they aren’t perfect either. I’ve been using EOTechs for years and have had no trouble (except for battery issues). I came VERY close to purchasing an Aimpoint this time, however, I am very comfortable with the large 65-MOA ring with dot in the middle, so I went with the XPS.

It's an Eotech. These things happen.

Nope, Aimpoints aren't perfect, but they are in a league of their own for reliability.

Is it possible that it came a little loose during the firing process?

    Also normal.

I've not seen an XPS in person. Has it got the integrated, non-replaceable mount like the (553?), or can you put a good one on it?

No it does not come with an ARMS mount like the 553. I just mounted my new XPS on my SBR with a LaRue mount.

All EOTechs have an integrated mount, meaning that they can be directly attached to the rifle. Most use an allen or thumbscrew as part of their mounting system. The LaRue EOTech "mount" is more correctly a QD riser rail. It does not replace anything on the EOTech itself and still relies on the Holosight's native mount-to-rail interface to attach. You can attach a 553 to the LT mount and it wouldn't be any different than other EOTechs (aside from being slightly higher).

We realize that all Eotechs come with their own mounts and that some are different than others.
Skintop was specifically talking about the ARMS mount on the 553 which sucked because it would not mount solidly on some rail systems.

JFreuler: I just mounted my XPS on a LT 110 today at the range. With the riser in place, the rear sight barely "showed" thru the glass to line up with the front sight. I fired a few rounds with my departments range master and had a hard time using the irons with the XPS on the LT riser. Is that normal for the rear BUIS to barely be tall enough to line up with the front?

I forgot, I was using a 6940 as my patrol rifle.

You can expect that to happen when using a riser and an EO. Basically you're getting a lower 1/3 or more accurately lower 1/4 co-witness. It's the design of the sight. When I was running an EO 552 or 554, I'd have something simular happen when using the LaRue riser. Don't know how tall intrinsically the XPS is, but the rest is common with EOs.
