That's always good idea. No matter what time of the year.
I changed a few items on the lower made my factory gun look like a home build. I love the SL stock.. away went the Sopmod to a SPR build.. Had to have the Geissele SD-C.. bad ambi selector.. and the A2 had to go. Favorite is the BCM MOD 3. So now it's how I like it, bit I always hate taking apart an already well built KAC lower.. Also put in a heavier KAC buffer as that carbine one is a little light for me.. especially when I throw on my QDC CQB.

I'm the same way - I hate modifying factory guns/uppers, if only because it defeats the purpose and peace of mind of buying a factory-assembled piece (in most cases). I started building for that reason. My factory stuff now stays factory, and stuff I want custom gets built up stripped receivers/uppers.
I agree. For me now, I am just used to the ambi KAC lower. So I guess even ground up builds, I still find myself buying complete SR-15 lowers and going from there. I can get money back out of trigger, Stock, grip, buffer, etc, and that pays for more then the parts I'm replacing them with. I didn't want to touch my SR-25 APC Mlok when I got it as it was over 4k bare bones. But making a few small changes/additions makes me feel that much more comfortable with the rifle, so away I went..

My backup LMT Defender2000 / SR15 ES mod 1. Since clone guns are ruining my life I don't think this gun nor my other mod 1 even gets shot

I sold one of my KAC uppers but I still have a factory SBR lower and an LPR. A 6.8 SPC build is taking shape and my spidey sense tells me it's destined to wear a URX 3.1.

Just because you're necessary doesn't mean you're important.
Is it not possible to buy KAC barrels only? I have been looking everywhere but it doesn't seem they are available?
