They are not pinned, but they are not going anywhere. As I hear, it is hydraulically pressed on with rocksett, and has two set screws with rocksett.

I don't doubt that Knights knows exactly what they are doing, more so than I, I'm just surprised they didn't seeing as pinning seems to be the norm. A lot of respectable people on this board and others will tell you that pinning is mandatory on a combat/duty rifle, yet Knights doesn't do this, however nobody brings it up.

I will agree, though, that if the gas block/barrel fit is so tight the gas block has to be hydraulically pressed on to the barrel, I doubt it's going anywhere even if those set screws did somehow find a way to work them selves out.

I need to stay far far away from this thread, but I just can't stop myself. I can hear a KAC calling out to me..................

Damn you KAC owners for posting these pics, damn you!

I agree with that. I think it doesn't get brought up because although it is not the typical method, it is perfectly acceptable. Not only is KAC's method very strong, it is used on a low profile gas block which isn't as likely to get knocked around like a FSB. Also, the two set screws aren't going anywhere, I can see threadlocker(probably rocksett?) on them. Prehaps the tight fit means less chance of gas leakage?

The biggest no-no method would be something like a YHM flip up unit. It is a 3 piece unit held together by four screws.

The GB attachment method has been discussed ad nauseum since before it was released. It is quite strong and as stated, press fit into place.

I actually hadn't read any threads in reference to KAC's attachment method. I do however, trust that they know what they are doing. I also know for sure that I haven't come across a thread with somebody talking about their KAC gas block loosening or getting knocked out of alignment. It was just something I took notice too.

No problem. It just seems to always come up when someone decides to look for faults in the KAC design along with the price, no staking on the castle nut and proprietary parts. From the handful of accounts I have read, the GB is a pain in the neck to get off and even harder to reinstall. It is definitely a solid design. OTOH, it could easily be pinned if someone just had to have it. There are plenty of these out there being run hard though, so I think if there were any issues, we would have heard about it by now.

I think it could have been designed better. I don't know if any one else has had this happen, but every now and then it will just open up when shooting.
