Yeah - this is obvious proof of the product's poor quality - just like Barret's semi-auto .50 BMG rifles - which also carry a manufacturer's warning not to use a supressor.

Personal axe to grind here op? Perhaps we can limit criticism of the 556 to actual, demonstrated deficiencies in the weapon, rather than cheap shots based on poor public outreach policy by the corporation?

This is as common an issue as one will find with any "large" corporation, not just with Ruger.

It's called accountability, and often times CS in general just isn't unless heavily supervised.

I am not the OP, but knowing C4IGrant I presume that the issue is that the item is touted as the "solution" to a problem that the company does not seem to understand.

Good try, but no. VERY few companies make 50 cal cans and since the consumer would run into attachment issues, I would say the same thing as Barret. There also could be reliability issues with the can on.

LOL, again wrong. Long time Ruger owner here. The SR-556 is also having its own functionality issues and we have not even seen any of them have 5-7k through one yet. Wait till that happens and we will see more issues.

My point is that Ruger knows just about nothing when it comes to AR's.

Are you insinuating that they took advantage of a market explosion without taking time for sufficient R&D?

This sure as hell looks personal. Is Ruger fixing the weapons? Is there a trend in the failures you're seeing, Grant?

    Grant,

Only been on here a year, but this is the first time I have seen you stir up such a hornets nest when it comes to people just not wanting to hear what your saying, and going for the sting...

The more I learn about all AR-15 platforms is that buying the first attempt at any major "fix" seems like a bad idea. The platform itself has 40+ years of innovation that have helped it get to where it is today. The "hybrid" fixes (my term for the piston guns ext) are so new that they haven't even come close to passing the test of time. Which to me seems to be why you are being vocal. I agree.

What I would like to see is a test group of twenty-thirty of these rifles go out to a group like Magpul for the purpose of having them tested in a high capacity carbine class like environment. The goal? 7,000 + rounds fired through all of the rifles, each rifle stays with it's same user until the end of the experiment. No user has more then one rifle. An armorer is the one that cleans all of the guns, and does any fixes. I'm curious what the result would be.

I'll gladly donate my time to this experiment.

    Wasn't in touch with him.
He was on "Guns and Ammo TV" on the Sportsmans Channel.
It aired last weekend ( I think it may have been a repeat ).
Greg Boddinton ( ? ) did a piece on the 556 with the Product Manager.
4 minutes into the show they were discussing the gas regulator.
    1 suppressed
    2 normal use
    3 dirty use
4 "weapon has to fire no matter what" use

Not going to endorse the rifle, I'm not an expert and have never handled one of
    Rugers 556's.
    Just quoting what was said.
