What I do, and everyone else I know that uses them every day in some type of work capacity does, is pick a date you can remember and change the battery yearly. I have no desire for some type of flow chart or advanced theory behind the battery life, I leave mine on 24/7 and replace it yearly. I have never had any problems. I've talked to many AimPoint guys and guys that use them much more seriously than I do in the military, they do the same thing. Another little note, I've been told by a few AimPoint guys that turning it on and off uses more battery than leaving it on, for those that may keep it store in a safe or something.
