    Your wet or your not........

Some times you have no choice of wearing rain gear,

my rigs get wet, they are on the outside of my rain gear if I wear it and that isnt to often. we dry out.

Pretty much agree... if it is raining just resign yourself to being soaked and bring a change of clothes - unless it is cold weather.

Then the next best realistic option is a lightweight waterproof jacket and a warbelt style setup over it.

What am I doing? At work, play, or training? Sometimes, you just suck it up and get wet.

I've got Goretex and Froggtoggs rainsuits when I know I'm going to get wet. Various sources. I know which to wear and how they fit with duty, war, and CCW belts. Same for snow/blizzard gear.

if i'm shooting in the rain, everything goes over the rain gear. no different than wearing it over BDUs, if you go with less bulky stuff like goretex LT.

    Poncho

Beyond that, a boonie (or OR sombrero) and standard waterproof/breathable shell under the chest rig and an acknowledgement that the gear on the rig is just gonna get wet.

I personally try to keep my core from getting wet as much as possible. It's just a backpacking habit and I try to maintain that. (and I am happier on the drive home).

Luckily, rain is not much of an issue in these parts.

Wear your rain gear underneath your rig. If that isn't an option/no time to put it on, looks like you're getting wet. Extra ammo or staying dry? Not even a choice really.....

Never worried about being wet, being warm on the other hand is another matter.

My Plt Sgt always said "If it ain't raining, we ain't training". Wear gortex top and bottoms over our cammies and put our flaks over it. When you get down time clean and clp all your mags and metal stuff.
