I still love these pouches. The tension can be dialed to whatever you want, from fall out if you are upside down, to locked down where they won’t come out at all regardless of how hard you pull.
For mounting on a standard 1.75" belt, the way the carbon fiber retainers recess into the aluminum housing, you can lock the position of the pouch down on the belt, and it will not slide around. It requires no additional keepers, or MOLLE webbing to thread through. They absolutely stay locked in place on the belt once the belt loops are screwed on.
The guy that makes these is a really solid dude, and will most likely work with you on any custom versions. The AR pouch was a prototype I got from him upon request.
His store is at the following location.

ETA: I have no doubt these are probably the closest thing you can get to an indestructible mag pouch. The only improvement I could see him making on these, is offering them in Beskar Steel instead of aluminum.

Very nice. Details on that setup?
When I travel I don't want to carry a lot, but I may need the weapon should something kick off. Since the likelyhood of me actually needing it is so slight, the only thing I carry extra is the ammo to go with it. This is an old Blackhawk belt. Yes I'd like something a bit more stable, but it works so I still have it. Same goes for the ITW Fastmags. I'd rather have something like the Tacos, but these work well enough for me at the present. I'm not gonna be doing any super high speed crap, at my age, and with my injuries, so retention is good enough, and the way I grunt and grown when I move, I'm not gonna be silent anyhow... lol. Absolutely love the ALS system. It's good and secure, quick to access, and I got their quick detach parts so I can sawp out holsters, or even mount one in the Jeep. It's on an ancient Blackhawk drop leg system I modified. Now it's directly on the belt, but with one leg strap on the bottom. Weapons are Vickers Edition Glock 17 with TLR1, and a DD AR pistol in 5.56.
I have a D3CRX Heavy and Flatpack Plus I can add if I'm real worried about getting into a mess. That gives me 4 more AR mags, 2 more for the G17, and some room for other goodies. I like the heavy, because I can use it with this, my .300 Blackout, or my 7.62. Also I like the pouch layout, especially the big pouches in front, that serve as IFAK, and carry my Steiner 7x30 binos. I'm big of gathering intel.
Flatpack Plus was shy...
OK, it out in the vehicle, and I didn't feel like going out to get it...

MIL-Inspired Class/Personal Preparedness/General Purpose loadout Update
It's been a lotta years, but I've finally revamped my kit enough I figured it was worth an explanatory post on how and why I've got what I do.
Chances are, you've not seen my previous post, which detailed my thinking up til 2014, and how/why I had what I started with. For that, here's the appropriate post:
https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...38#post1964538
Since Photobucket seems to have committed some form of seppuku, here's what I started with, as per that last post:
First up: number of mags. As you can see, I was running a bit mag heavy with that setup. 8 +1 in the gun is nice and all, but a little goofy for someone without mechanized support. (I blame the 1ID for being that overloaded, damn legs) One of the first changes was to drop the extra mags of the plate carrier. That saved a bit of weight. As I mentioned in my last post, I had recently purchased an FNX 45 and intended on using it instead of the SIG 1911 I had. That allowed me to carry fewer mags while not actually losing the number of rounds I was carrying. I also dropped the Safariland drop leg holster in favor of a T-Rex Arms Kydex holster in a mid-ride belt adaptor, which got even more weight off me and left me with fewer straps to worry about. Finally, I dropped the admin pouch I had in favor of a slightly bigger TAG Folding Admin Pouch.
The other major change that occurred after that post was I got my Form 1 approved for my SCAR 16S. I had already decided that the Midwest extended rail was a mistake. It made the SCAR front heavy and unbalanced the gun. For a while, I just went back to using the normal rail before finally getting my Form 1 approved. That's actually been a big factor in the development of the kit, as the SBR 16S rapidly became my preferred carbine, and even has edged out the 17S for status as my go-to gun. That helped me decide to reduce the number of mags I was carrying (with the 17S, I preferred to carry more to make up for lower capacity).
Those changes were done by mid-2015. Since then, my life has changed rather dramatically. For one, I ETSed and went to college, which meant far more time on the couch, less time on the range or doing PT, and less money. As such, my desire to change and train also went down. I also found myself heavily involved in reenactment groups, and while I still did plenty of shooting (including taking an M1 Garand to a carbine class in full WWII kit), most of it wasn't geared towards personal preparedness. Recent events made me stop and reassess my situation, and I've realized I needed to change a few things. I made a few range trips in recent months, kitting up, and besides realizing I need to do a bit more PT, I realized I needed to change a few things up. I went back and reread my previous post, and using that as a base line, decided to change some things.
First up, was the wholesale investment in TACO pouches. I was still using a mix of TACOs and other mag pouches, mostly as a cost-saving measure. That was fine but meant that I would always have to adjust my kit when switching between the SCARs. Not a big deal, but it was still a bit of a problem whose only cause was me being cheap. So, old pouches out, more HSGI TACOs in. I addition, I picked up a cheapish 5.11 GP pouch to hold my ear pro and gloves, or anything else that I could need it for.
The belt received the most changes. The first was due to me realizing that my prior method of carrying an extra tourniquet, a CAT Trap, wasn't the easiest in the world to use. I replaced it with an HSGI Kydex tourniquet TACO, which I repainted into a terrible MultiCam inspired abomination. That caused me to shift my Leatherman pouch (also an HSGI TACO pouch around, but that caused problems withdrawing my pistol. With those challenges in mind, I decided to replace my old dump pouch, IFAK, and hydration pouch with slimmer versions. A Blue Force Gear Ultralight dump pouch fits the bill easily for its role and was a no brainer. The Dark Angel Medical DARK Slim was a bit more of a challenge because while I like the pouch and have heard nothing but good things about Dark Angel, it's a pricey medkit. I had almost talked myself into sticking with the ATS pouch I had but finally settled on replacing it due to all of my bandages having hit their expiration date, and no longer being able to swap them out with the platoon medic for new items. Oh well. Just need to stop being poor, right? As for the hydration pouch, it was a late decision to change it, but the fully enclosed pouch was causing problems when worn with the plate carrier, so I decided to dump in favor of, you guessed it, an HSGI Soft TACO, while also grabbing a canteen-style Nalgene bottle.
For the odds and ends: the clothing in the picture, I've got an Army Combat shirt, second style with the zippered neck, and a pair of Army combat pants with knee pads. Both are far cheaper than going with Crye, while still being flame resistant and comfortable. Good enough for me. I've still got an ACH, but I don't really have much use for it, so it's pretty bare-bones. My preferred headgear being a Boonie for field use, or an "operator's cap" for range use. My CamelBak is still the same Armor bak I've had for years, and it still does its job well. No complaints. Gloves are also some I've had for a while, Mechanix gloves in MultiCam. No complaints with them either, and I like that they're in the same pattern as everything else. Probably don't offer any advantage, but they're aesthetically pleasing. The last major change was with my ear pro, in this case replacing my old Peltors with these Walker's Razor Slim earmuffs. I've only used them a few times, but they're comfier than my lost Peltors, and also in MultiCam for aesthetic reasons, so I'm happy with them for now. We'll see how they hold up over time.
Last thing I'll mention is the magazines; my last post saw me using Lancer LW5s. I like my Lancers, and still keep them loaded as my "ready mags," but I've gone back to buying PMags, this time M3s. When I switched from M2s to Lancers, MagPul was only selling the new M3s in black or the off-white "sand" color. I didn't care for either, and my attempts at painting magazines caused me to look elsewhere. The use of Lancers as ready mags these days has encouraged me to look elsewhere again, and thankfully M3s in MCT are now an option. I'll probably continue to buy both as needed, but the PMags are far more available in my area, which is why I went with them.
