That is the whole reason I went to compact ACOGs years ago. The only reason I was able to go back to an RDS is that I wear my glasses full time now and they are astigmatism corrected.

For me, the Compact ACOG was the only solution when my astigmatism was uncorrected.

So do you have a review of the Trijicon ACOG TA44SG-10 for us? How do you like it?

It seems to me, an Aimpoint T1 is superior for all the CQB scenarios. And, a TA31/11/33 is better for operating at a distance.

1.5X seems to be the worst of both worlds. When you consider that the battery life of a T1 or M3/M4 is so ridiculously long. Battery life is not a realistic concern. Given these facts + the huge cost - I don't get it.

    What am I missing?
I went to the SHOT show and was the only way I was able to truly compare anything and everything available. I didn't have to just wonder.. Or read reviews. I actually had the chance to test it Hand on. I had the Micro Agog on my Priority list to check out at the Trijicon booth. When I tried the TA44 I could see it on my next must have for QCB rifle!! It not only had the cool look factor that originally attracted me to it. But it was like nothing I have ever used. It was like shooting with no optic and like a cornea implanted sight on my eye. It was as fast to the naked eye as you will ever get for quick acquisition!!! I tried for 1 month after the show to get one at a realistic price and no luck. Till I walked in my local store one day and there it was in red. I wanted green it was even faster and easier on the eye than red but I had to have it. It works SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I got a chance to test a T1 against the TA44R 1.5
    the clarity difference is astounding

I was testing a new Wilson Combat 16" 6.8 upper with the TA44 on it
shooting less than a 1.5" group at 100 yards with it with a brand new upper

it's a very, very cool little optic

How do you think it'd be indoors?

I understand that folks who like the simple dot of AP might give this optic a pass, but IMO they'd be missing the boat. The dot-in-ring reticle is, for lack of a better way of putting it, both bigger AND smaller than a 2 or 4 moa dot. In this respect it is like the EOTech- a precise aiming point for longer distance, and a bigger one for fast shooting in close.

The 1.5x is just enough to sharpen the image of the target without loss of speed. Again, this is just my .02 for right now. I have this optic (thanks Grant!!!) but I have been too busy playing with my MP12-22 to take it out and run it. I *have* been dry firing a running drills (weather here has sucked lately) though and it seems to be very usable, magnification-wise. I think this is best niched as a competitor to other GP sights like the AP and EOTech.

As to the 30mm issue, I see your point but then again the T-1 seems to be doing well with a smaller obj.

I don't think there is a perfect optic out there. There is no free lunch. But this is a good one.

depending on the lighting conditions, the reticle can wash out until it's barely visible. i have the TA44SR-10.
it's been great so far outdoors though. it's currently my favourite 'fair weather' optic.
if i had to shoot indoors or at night with a light, i'd pick the T-1 over the TA44.
