    New Larue LT-100 Acog Mount

There is a new version out with the throw levers on the right side. Why?

Well, there's a guess. Which is better than the guy I talked to at Larue who said: "I don't know".

Right-handed configuration of the charging handle on the SCAR-L is a good possibility.

    HA!! That is great!!

Seriously, if I had to keep my muzzle pointed at a target and wanted to switch from a red dot to a more sniper type optic in a shtf scenario...I can see where some applications may want me to use my right hand.

I suspect it's the stag element but gotta love larue for doing the reverse footprint.

One of my long term projects for 2010 is to test various LaRue mount optic combos from a POI view.....via just the switch optics and what is my max extreme bullseye / kill zone??

    I'm chomping at the bit.

The latch base protrudes from the mounting location.
This can be a problem if your ACOG is mounted close to your charghing handle or if the base of your optic lies close to the CH travel, as with a SCAR (pointed out by SHIVAN). Having the latches on the right side keeps the area around the CH on and AR clear, which makes CH manipulation easier, and keeps skin on your knuckles if racking a SCAR with the CH on the left side. It has nothing to do with removal/installation of the optic. It is the same reason that new military ACOGs come from Trijicon with the knobs on the right side.

Which begs the question as to why most Larue mounts have the throw levers on the left side to begin with?

The SCAR is relatively new, and I never found the original levers to be an issue on the operation of a regular M4 Carbine.

It looks like LaRue is adapting to military requirements and new weapons manual of arms.

Switching to the right side also addresses contact with the BDC knob of the Matec BUIS by the rear lever of the LT100.

When I ordered my LT724 Aimpoint micro offset mount last week I was in e mail talks with one of their employees. He advised me that the 724 requires a step ahead of the LT 100. However the RCO mount and this new one (LT 622 I think?) will allow it to sit directly flush with the front of the mount.

So, maybe something to do with mating up with other or newer products?
