    Bolt and carrier question

I know that the bolt is different between different calibers .223,6.8 ect. but what about the bolt carrier? any difference in them between calibers? or are they all the same carrier for the .223 family of AR's

    Short answer: same carrier.

Some of the gas-piston and alt. caliber manufacturers have opted to contract with Young Mfg. for some proprietary carriers, but even those are essentially ar-15 carriers at heart.

Alaxander Arm's Grendel carrier is a Young Gen. 2 with a side charging handle.

POF uses Young, as well, for all of their AR-15 calibers but opts to keep extra material in the rear of the carrier and machine in an integral key for their piston system. (These design alterations are more pertinent to the gas system than to the caliber.)

Les Baer is using their own carriers for their Grendel builds (Young Mfg. manufactured), the same that they use for their .223 guns.

All of this applies to 6.8. Both the 6.5 and 6.8 were designed to function in an AR platform with only a barrel, bolt, and mag change.
