i have not tried the tlr1 yet.
i really am not so keen about the laser...it's nothing special, i expected more from this high end laser.
today, i would have choosen the trl1 instead of the tlr2...a very good led light, as for the tlr2, but much cheaper having not the laser.

but next buy i hope will be a surefire x series...i miss my x200 much.

don't misunderstanding me please, since the tlr1 shares the same lamp of tlr2, as a flashlight it is very good.
simply, i would have prefered spending less extra money for the x200 and its wider choise of accessories instead of 150$ for a laser to not of much use.

A laser that is not much use to YOU. That does not make it overrated to say someone else.

Other lights with lasers cost much much more than the TLR-2. The X400 is retailed at $455 for example.

I've decided that a light is going to take priority over an optic for the time being, so I'm a little disappointed this topic is so short. I'm still reading others, but this seemed to be the most recent generic topic.

A guy tried to sell me a light over the weekend for some horrific sum over $200.

Two bills for a light? I also looked in some catalog and you can literally spend as much or more on a light as you would an optic, although I see a lot of the more expensive ones are light and laser combos.

I dug out some handheld tactical light left over from my law enforcement days. It's plenty bright with an array of LED's but with a tube greater than 1" (maybe 30 mm) and the fact that it's beat makes me want to look into an uprgrade.

All of this got me thinking what you really need in a weapons light.

I'm thinking long battery life, weather resistant, bright LED, rugged construction, end cap button or tape switch activation.

I like the 6P or G2 LED light in a VTAC holder. Should cost about $80-90 bucks with the G2. More if you use the 6P. That said I have a SureFire X300 on one gun and like it better. I have G2's on the other two guns because I had them and I don't have another $500 to spend on lights. Tl's work well too for about $100.

"Real men have always needed to know what time it is so they are at the airfield on time, pumping rounds into savages at the right time, etc. Being able to see such in the dark while light weights were comfy in bed without using a light required luminous material." -Originally Posted by ramairthree

For Christmas, I'm going to twist some arms and hope that I find a Cree LED head. That'll do great things for the amount of white light I can throw and my run time.
