In your opinions, which one will be better suited as a CQB-300m optic? A variable scope (most likely 1-4x) or the Trijicon TA44SG/R-10? If you choose the variable scope, which one? Thanks.

TR24R or TR24G
Full disclosure - I am an Engineering Supervisor at Trijicon, Inc.
I use the Horus Talon 1-4 and it is awesome!
0-300 ? In my opinion the best bets are, of course, those that I have experience with. Of the various ACOGS I prefer the TA-33 to the TAO1 and TA31. But my favorite is the NightForce 1-4 with the FC2 recticle. Up close it's like an Aimpoint with a long tube. At 300 it really shines and a RDS cannot compete.

I'm thinking of a similar need--CQB for home defense, but transition to longer distances on my land for hunting and sniping (when the commies arrive)... my question is how quickly can you pick up your target in these optics... on my hunting scope, if I'm not in the exactly right position to see through my scope, then all I'm seeing is a light at the end of the tunnel without a visual of the target.
I'd hate to be in that situation in CQB!![]()
The TR24 is pretty forgiving on head placement for CQB. I don't have a lot of rounds down range with it yet, but in drills I am finding it as quick, or close enough I can't tell the difference, to a red dot.
I can be on my index point or as far back as I can and still pick up the triangle real quick and easy. As long as I can see through the tube, I can hit CM of a close target. My wife has no problem with getting a full field of view even though she indexes a good inch to inch and a half farther back than I do.
The TR24 really exceeded all of my expectations so far.
I like the Burris XTR 1-4x.

What are your operational expectations, precision needs and identification requirements?
I ask because the words "Close Quarters Battle" and shooting stuff at close range are not interchangable and each has different priorities and acceptable performance levels.
