    Benelli SuperNova Magazine Extension Help

I have a Benelli Supernova that I use as my personal defense gun, its the tactical 18.5" barrel with the comfortech steadygrip (pistol-grip).

I've been looking at getting a magazine extension, do any of you have any particular experience with a mag-ex for the supernova?

I know that there are a few sold by a couple of different companies, and I'm not sure which one is the best value.

And lastly, when I do get an extension, Im not entirely sure how to install it. I'm afraid it's not as easy as just screw it on. There is a piece in the end of the current mag that holds the spring, and would prevent a spring from being able to go into an extension, and I don't know how to take it out?

Thanks Fellas, Maybe I'll document it and put it up later on as a how to...

I've kind of been making a website with my brother, that has some gun reviews, as well as gun help... so thanks for your help!

I would go to Benelli website and contact them and see if they can help get factory parts or ,tell you what is the best After-market part for your weapon.and see if they can help with a breakdown schematic to help install this part Right. If it is your HD weapon I would want it done right with the right parts.Just My .02 and don't buy just because it is the cheapest part Buy right once or Buy it twice ,I learned this the hard way LOL

    I've got this one:

It's nothing to write your mama about. It puts extra shells in the tube. I've yet to have any problems with it whatsoever.

    I would try here first:

Call them up. I wanted a +1 extension for my 870 and I couldn't find one anywhere. I called these folks and they put one together for me in about a week.

Also these are good (note the Nova uses a Beretta extension):

The factory extensions have not been available for several years.

Nordic Components is probably the best extension made. I'm currently using 4 of them, also make sure to get their mag clamp as it is superior to most others.

As far as the plug in the end of the magazine tube, use a pair of pliers and pull it out or pry it out with a screwdriver. The correct method is to use a pair of snap ring pliers to remove it.

Irishdevil - Thanks for your info, I actually took my gun into my shop, and took it apart, and found out that the piece in the magazine that I thought was threaded into the magazine was just an expansion plug. I popped it out and took out the plug, and now have space for 4 rounds...

And as far as nordic, thats exactly what I was looking for. When I said I was looking for the best value, I didn't mean the cheapest, I meant which will I get the best performance for the money. i.e. When I was looking to buy some ERGO low-pro rail covers, I wan't about to pay $50 for 4 ladder style covers. I found a guy who gets them from china, I paid $15 for 4, and they are exactly the same as the ones my bro got from daniel defense. So, I'm not cheap, but I don't just blindly pay what some companies want. But when I think somethings worth it, I'll pay. Like an ambi-safety, its like 3x the price as a normal safety, and if you want the ambi star-safety, you gotta wait like 3 months for RRA to have some in order. Which wouldn't be a bad investment, I had a dozen people offer me double what I paid for it.

Thank you all for your help!

Actually it probably was not the exact same thing you would have gotten from DD or any other ergo dealer or distributor, and you probably got what you paid for. But I digress...

You always get some smart ass, picking apart what you say on a thread that has nothing to do about the actual thread, and that nobody is even commenting on anymore.

But, I didn't mean that the low pro covers came from the same manufacturer, I just meant, if I let you try and decide out of two of them, which one is the supposed ERGO, and the no name brand, I garuntee that you wouldn't be able to tell me which is which... do you really think that one of those ERGO ladder style low pro rail covers is worth $12?

I was just replying to someone who posted about low profile ladder rails in a shotgun extension tube topic talking about his lame ass chinese communist crap he is hanging off his gun and claiming it was the same thing as the US made stuff. It probably isn't. Will probably degrade faster from environmental conditions than the Santoprene or whatever it is called used in the US one. I have not seen the Chinese knock off crap -- I don't put Chinese crap on my guns at all nor feed the Chi-com military industrial machine -- but every other piece of Chinese knock off gun crap I have seen -- rail cover, mount, optic, grip, rail, etc -- has been inferior. You get what you pay for.

    I bet you I could.

I don't know what they are worth. I don't know what the manufacturing cost is plus reasonable markup and then dealer markup. I know what I pay for them as a dealer and that I discount them from the $12 price.

    ---

And to bring this back on target: For Shotgun tube extensions. Just make sure that whatever you do you do not make an import prohibited firearm and run afoul of the 922(r) or whatever 922() it is. I say this as I got schooled in that in another forum where I misspoke about putting an extension on a shotgun. I am not saying all extensions are prohibited. On some shotguns however you end up with one that would be so school yourself before you do it.
