I used mine until I fumbled a draw stroke and cut the crap out of my finger. Haven't used it since (2 years ago) and yet to have an issue with any of the three I own. Best light out there and completely bomb proof as far as weapon lights go, even without the pin.

No pin for me, my X300 is on my handgun and the battery lid is up against the trigger guard. If I were to use the X300 on a long gun I would use the pin.

I never installed mine and saw no need to use it.
Courage is being scared to death..... and still saddling up.
