I also use the ADM T1 mount. In reference to the tightness settings, be careful about going too tight, as you can actually damage your rail. There's a slight amount of adjustment forward and back within each rail slot because the screw has a smaller diameter. If you push it all the way forward or back, and then try to make it super tight, the sleeve that the screw threads into will contact the side of the rail. Because it's so tight and the ADM mount has a large surface area in contact, it won't self center, and instead will grind off a portion of the rail.

Not that big of a deal to me, but some people get awfully worried about the occasional scratch or ding, even if you can't see it under the mount.

Whenever I have to remove my aimpoint, I always make sure to tilt the rifle upwards while putting it back on, so that it gently rests against the rear of the slot before tightening. This ensures the same mounting spot each time. I've never had trouble retaining zero using this method.

I have had at least 4 professional type shooters/traininers tell me this.

Years ago, I noticed that I had mounts loose on guns, but just figured I made a mistake and did not tighten the lever down.

Someday, when I have time, I will etch fine scratches in the nut and base to see if there is any movement.

While I might suggest resting the screw against the front of the slot so that the screw will already be against the rearward-recoiling rail, it probably won't make a noticeable difference on a carbine with an Aimpoint.

Also, I agree with you that a scratch or ding on a purpose-oriented weapon should not be a concern. I didn't notice those types of marks on my carbine when I had an ADM mount for my Aimpoint, but I did notice some minor marks on the rail where the corners of the ADM mount contacted the rail. Too loose, allowing sliding under recoil? I don't know, but like I said, no biggie.

My ADM certainly wasn't too tight; Grant makes a good point that it doesn't needs to be "tool tight." I kept my tension screw one notch back from the "tool tight" position. I guess most can find a suitable tension adjustment using the ADM's discrete step adjustments, or you can go with the LaRue system where you can tune the tension as finely as you want. That's the beauty of market choices -- choose your mount and shoot on.

Well it appears that some manufacturers get upset if one of their dealers openly discusses their products with the consumers.

So to be fair to all we are going to go down the list and discuss the NEGATIVES of every manufacturer's mounts.

    1. ARMS

The levers on this mount are MIM and if hit correctly tend to break. The levers are also none adjustable and over time can become loose on the rail as they stretch out.

    2. ADM

If the nut on the back is not put into the mount and the lever is closed, you can snap the head off the nut. Some shooters cannot find a happy medium with the mount on their rail so a finer hex shape (with more slots) would help with this issue.

    3. Aimpoint

Their lever is the most industrial looking of any of the levers out there. The nut on the side of the mount that adjusts the rough width is a possible problem area as it can back off.

    3. Bobro

These mounts tend to be on the high end as far as cost and are hard to find (sometimes). They have a lot of parts in them making them very complex in design. These mounts tend to be on the larger side.

    4. KAC

Their new Micro mounts have a small lever that could be hard to operate with gloves on. The one I saw at shot, had a small, spring loaded safety on the lever. Once concern would be that something could get in there and cause it to lock. I have no first hand experience with this mount so I cannot speculate about anything else on it.

If you are a manufacturer and don't like what I have said about your mounts, feel free to pick up the phone and give us a call (as we would love to talk with you).

To the consumer, we believe that it is the dealers responsibility to discuss the products we sell so that you can make the most informed decision possible.

For the record, we PERSONALLY use the mounts we sell and if we did not like them, we would not use them. Period!

My 3 personal HD guns each wear a mount made by LT, ADM and Bobro. We like them all and would recommend these companies to anyone.

Unless you have posted a lie, I feel that you would have done your customers a dis-service by NOT posting your thoughts. Thankyou Grant.

This has always been my thought. Even when ARMS mounts were all the rage, you can find posts by me on TOS talking about them coming loose (even though I was a dealer for them).

This made Dick S. (owner of ARMS) so angry that he had his lawyers send me some nasty letters.

I feel that either they need to make a product so good that they can PROVE you are lying and sue you for libel, or they need to take their lumps and strive to improve the product to the point that they can do the above. Until then, the cream will continue to rise to the top and the innovators will accept their lumps and improve and the whiners will cry about being beaten up and eventually be eliminated from the market by natural causes.

Threat by lawyer over an honest product review does sound like a Dick move.
