Has anyone tried with a magnifier yet?

One of the things John Enloe said about the 2MOA Micro is that it's much better with magnifiers as the smaller dot doesn't appear to smear from upper left to lower right (not astigmatic-- it rotates with the sight) like the 4MOA does for many people.

I'd really like to know if someone who's experienced this specific issue with the 4MOA and a 3x sees a difference with the 2MOA Micro.

Send me a magnifier and I'll let you know.

When I look at the 2 MOA dot to me it still looks like my 4MOA dot just smaller. Meaning I still see a reverse comma. That is without a magnifier and I do not have an astigamtism either.

Does the comma direction stay still as you rotate the optic or does it move with the optic?

I do see the comma, if im adjusted too high. When I am in bright daylight, I usually run on about 9 or 10. In my house, it stays on 7 most the time. At any time that I go above these settings, I get the comma effect.

pretty much the same for me. In the house it's usually on 7 or 8. At 8 I can just start to see comma. Definitely above that. With the 4 MOA dot I can easily see comma on 8. Probably due to the size of the dot.

So I was able to get out to the range the other day with a couple friends and used my new 2MOA T-1 on my new BCM 14.5" middy when getting a fresh BZO. Overall opinion: I really like it.

    My observations as follows:

    1) 2MOA Dot Size:

-When it comes to the actual 2MOA dot, before actually getting to the range and shooting with it, I couldn't tell one damn bit of difference between my "4MOA" T-1s (as most know, it's really a 3.4MOA) and my new 2MOA T-1. None. And I tried my damnedest to do so (though I didn't mount the 3X Magnifier until at the range). However, the very moment I placed the 2MOA red dot over the center of the 6" pistol bull on the back of the VTAC targets at 50 yards, on setting 8 as usual, I instantly saw a difference from how my T-1s usually look. It's a tiny bit smaller and essentially looks "sharper" on the target. I really like it and wish all my T-1s were 2 MOA, but am not about to get rid of any of them. I'll simply buy 2MOA units from here on out. Really no reason not to.

    2) Zeroing:

-When I fired my first volley of shots while getting my 50yd BZO, I was 3 inches right, and 1 foot 6 inches down. I had to make some crazy elevation adjustments to get her centered (up 36 clicks 2 times in a row, which is a total 72 clicks, or approx 18"), but was able to get her dead center in 9 rounds. So no biggie, just seemed like quite a bit more off of center than usual.

    3) Aimpoint 3X Magnifier:

-I could definitely tell the 2MOA red dot in this new T-1 is noticeably smaller when viewed through an Aimpoint 3X Magnifier. With both optics on setting 8, there's an obvious difference. As for actual shape... the damn thing looks different every time I look through it. Sometimes it's a perfect dot for the first 1-2 seconds I'm looking through it. But with or without a 3X Magnifier, once I really start to focus on that dot, no matter what model Aimpoint, it eventually starts looking like this (\) and this (/) and this (*) or even sometimes this (W). Okay, I was kidding about that last one. But my point is that it changes pretty much constantly if I'm staring at the dot for too long. So it's best for me to simply put the red glowing thingy in the middle of the tube on the desired area of the target I want to hit, and then slowly squeeze the trigger. I've found that works really well (go figure). If things just get too ****ed up for me to concentrate, then I quickly glance away from the dot and outside the tube to the right and/or left, then refocus on the dot/target and squeeze the trigger. I used the magnifier to shoot a couple 1MOA groups at 100 yards with some pricey Mk262 77gr ammo, one with and one without my SureFire FA556-212 suppressor. Worked pretty damn good.

    Overall Impression:

-Like I said already, I really like this slightly smaller 2MOA T-1 optic. I'll be buying them from now on, but won't be replacing my 4MOA T-1s with them... unless someone wants to trade me!. Last December I attended a Pat McNamara TAPS class and was fortunate enough to be able to have a whole field full of 10" steel squares to shoot down at from a slightly elevated hill. That day I learned that I could quite easily hit that 10" steel plate from 100 out to 350 yards with my unmagnified 4MOA Aimpoint Micro T-1. I was very impressed with the capabilities of that optic on that day (even more than I already was!), and since I can't get into prone like everyone else I was using this rickety ass plastic barrel with a wooden frame as my rest and it was not the most stable platform. Still, 350 was a walk in the park.

That said, I think this optic will really shine out to 400 yards and a little beyond (of course at some point you're holding above and completely off the target), especially with the 3X Magnifier behind it, as well as taking more precise head shots or hitting little 8" and 6" plates past 100yards. I'm sure there's other advantages and scenarios I'm not listing here, but I'm sure others can chime in and name some as well.
