    M1 Garand goodness......

Well, CMP received my order for two Field Grade Springfield Armory M1 Garands on the 24th of Feb., and today I received them. Not bad!

Packing was excellent, and I'm happy with what I got.

My father is getting the one made in March of 1941, and I'm getting the June of '42. The March '41 has a Springfield 1942 barrel, Springfield bolt, Springfield op rod, Springfield milled trigger group...damn near all Springfield. The barrel is in great shape!! NO pitting or undue wear.

I stripped and cleaned the '41 up, but haven't gotten a chance to clean the '42 yet. The '42 has a Springfield replacement barrel from '51, I haven't cleaned it yet, a H&R bolt and op rod, and Springfield stamped trigger guard.

    I'm pretty damn happy!

The stocks on the '41 are a little rougher than the '42, and has a little graffiti on it, but it's serviceable. I'll look for a stock tomorrow at the gunshow.

Anyway, here are the pics, taken before cleaning:

Very nice M1 Garands you got there.

My '50s International Harvester Garand with NM sights which I got after my first DCM match back in '86 looks a lot worst than what you guys got.

I could still remember my first DCM match so I could qualify buying the Garand, I used my just broken in AR-15A2 H-BAR Sporter rifle and it seems that everyone was looking at my new rifle.

I keep on debating if I should restore my Garand to a like new issue condition but I kind of like the way it looks, well used.

Even if my Garand looks bad at least it shoots very well, I tried my father's Springfield, my uncle's H&R and three of our friends DCM Garands and mine shoots the best group.

Keep us updated with your project.

    Congrats.

You mean 3! That way they can utilize the stacking swivels.

3? I'm on past that now. I picked up 3 more last month. Two 6 digits and a 5 digit. I have one of each of the 4 manufacturers and now I'm just buying while we still can at a good price.
