    S&W upper questions

Do S&W uppers have M4 Feedramps or not? Acording to the chart they do, according to the person who I traded this upper with they do. However these don't look like M4 Feedramps to me.

I am a little worried here about the upper I got. Other indicators show that it is a S&W but the lack of feedramps bothers me.

Kwelz, I just looked at my M&P15T (SN 66XXX, purchased 01/08) and it looks identical to yours (no M4 feedramps).

I compared it to my CMMG upper, which does have M4 feedramps.

ETA: My upper (flattop) has the keyhole forge mark, and the barrel is marked "5.56 Nato 1-9" at 12 o'clock if that helps any.

ARJJ would you mind telling me what rail came on your 15T?

I have a 15T as well and if I'm not mistaken, those are M4 feed ramps.

I know you didn't ask me but mine came with Troy.

Older COMMERCIAL made uppers did not have feedramps, but LE ones did.

Currently, both commercial and LE uppers have feed ramps now and has been this way for at least 12 months.

There were some issues with the older S&W uppers/AR's so make sure your uppers runs ok.

The upper in the pic does not have M4 feedramps. M4 feedramps extend into the receiver.

Don't know if this link will work but they appear to be M4 ramps according to this thread.

hey guys, my M&P15R had feed ramps per the picture. I was getting a ton of failure to feed jams and all kinds of other problems (which i won't go into here!).

I contacted S&W and they asked me to ship it back. When it came back i had M4 feed ramps!

From the picture the OP posted, those are definitely not M4 feedramps. Before I posted my earlier reply, I compared my M&P and my CMMG uppers; the difference was very obvious. The M&P had standard ramps, while the CMMG had the M4 ramps.

Grant, thanks for clarifying. I thought I'd read somewhere that newer M&Ps were coming with the M4 ramps. When I first bought my M&P, I had a lot of short-stroking with all kinds of ammo. I sent the gun back and S&W drilled the gas port and pinned the low-pro gas block. (It was originally held in place by set screws only.) Nothing was done to the feedramps, but the rifle has been 100% since then, even with Brown Bear. I still have problems with the extractor ripping off Wolf rims, but I think that's ammo related since BB extracts fine.

Kwelz, my M&P15T came with the revised model Troy 10" (I guess?) FF rail. I say revised since the bottom rail secures with a stainless set screw (versus the older push pin). It's been 100% trouble free, although I don't use much rail, so it's overkill for my needs.
