I recommend the TR24G (Green triangle). As far as which reticle suits your needs better, what distances do you plan to shoot your MRP at? For me the Green Triangle is optimal from 0-200yds.

I have also been able to make quick "combat accurate" shots out to 300yds without much complexity in terms of hold-overs. I can get good center-high chest hits by holding "Center Melon" @ 300yds. For the record, I zero the point of the triangle @ 100yds.

I would also HIGHLY recommend the LaRue LT-135 (1.93" height) SPR/M4 mount for the TR24. It gives you a similar height to an Aimpoint or Eotech with a lower 1/3 co-witness. I have run both, (The LT-135 (1.93") & the LT-139 SPR-E (1.5") and have found the 1.93" LT-139 to be quicker & easier to pick up at CQB distances, and faster per the shot timer at getting my first shot on-target. I am only very slightly slower with the TR24G in the LT-139 than I am with my Eotech XPS2-0.

Do you give up some speed at CQB distances with the TR24G? Yes, but only very slightly with practice. But the benefits gained throughout the rest of the carbines effective range with the TR24G outweighs that minor CQB speed penalty by far in my opinion.

In terms of the TR24 being a "true" 1x scope, I think that is debatable, but it's a non-issue. It does have some slight magnification at approx. 5yds and closer, but beyond that there is no perceivable magnification.

How fine are the X-Hairs on the German #4?

I have a couple of TR24Gs. One I am going to keep, might sell the other.

Considering an NXS 1-4 Mil-Dot for a Noveske barreled upper as it appears the crosshairs are very fine on those. Never seen either in person.

I recently acquired a TR24G. The reticle choice for me right from the beginning was clear- I want the triangle since I was looking for an all-around scope. I figured that there must be a reason why we never see RDS with crosshairs. My choice was really between the red or green. I went with green. Here's a comparison by Molon:

They are pretty thick and draw your eye towards the center.

The dot in the center (especially the green version) sticks out pretty well.

For me personally, I use Aimpoints so I am used to looking for a dot so the German reticle reticle seems like a logical choice.

Just got off the range today for fall training and I am loving my TR24. I have the red triangle and a lot of the drills were up close and fast. I was as fast as anyone with the added time of switching shoulders depending on side of the barricade when no one else was.

I ran two guns during training today, one with the TR24 and one with a RDS. I was faster with the TR24. It was so much brighter and crisper than the RDS. I also love the size of the triangle. It is bigger and easier to pick up quickly, yet the tip allows for good precision.

The red triangle of death kicks ass. The TR24R's brightness makes many ACOG's look rather dim. I'd like to get a hold of a RMR or short 1.5X ACOG one of these days. For approximately the same weight, the TR24 balances out a little better than my old TA11. I'm digging it, nice clean glass.

I've got a nikon true 1-4x also, the german #4 is also extremely easy to use even without a dot at the center. The 1.5'' LT-104 mount was difficult to use with that reticle and a fixed front sight, bracketing was hard. My TR24R came with a 1.93'' LT-135 mount, so I swapped mounts, put the nikon in the high mount and the trijicon in the low mount. Even with a fixed front the TR24R works great in a LT-104.

Recently I traded a TA11 for a TA33 + $$$. That little optic weighs less than an aimpoint. Kind of dim compared to my TA11, but still easy to pick up. Good eye relief. FOV is a little small, I mean hey, I'd love to have a 35ft FOV, but it works fine for my purposes. With both eyes open you can run it similar to an aimpoint. I might put it on my SIG 556. With a larue mount I can still see my 550/551 height iron sights through the carry handle hole.

Speed up close is not an issue.

we have ran some timed drills with EO AP and TR24s. there is very little in the times ...

I have red and greens I like the greens better in low to no light

I have a tr23 in amber on my hunting gun it is much faster in the woods than a crosshair set up no need to search for the crosshair in think dense brush
or long ways off in low light corners shadows of the woods and pines im replacing it with a green one this year.
