Anyone using an 870 Desert Recon?

Can get one for a fair price, wondering if the OD finish on the metal holds up well. This would be a combo HD/Turkey/Varmint SG for my son.

I have found most camo/colored finishes suck. I have tried Armor Tuff (Wilson) and seen Benelli's camo. Both flaked easily. Ejected shell-casings, scratches, whatnot. I am a fan of parkerizing when you want a black finish. Or anodizing, as the situation dictates.

I had one for a while...The finish on both the metal and plastic scratched off quite easily.

Do you mean this one? I have seen a few spots where it was flaking, but I am not concerned. I will just bust out some Aluma-hyde or Krylon and rattle can the bastard.

I have one and it doesn't necessarily flake off but scratches easily. I'd try a Marine Magnum...they had a black one too last year.

Out of curiosity do those use an express or police receiver?
