buying today? I'd still just buy the $3 Gapper. I find the metal Magpul trigger guard to do what it should but be too expensive for what it is, and the MOE to be more affordable but not accomplish the stated task. I have several examples of each, and my opinion is based on using those samples.
I just spent 3 days with my BCM gun because my 6933 was having issues. At over 1k rounds in 3 days I absolutely and 100% stand by my statement above as I have my social finger on my right hand as Exhibit A. The MOE does not fully fill the gap and it is definitely a major issue.

Note that nowhere in this thread as of yet appears a single picture of a MOE that properly fills the gap the way the metal one does. I'd much prefer the lower price of the MOE but not at the expense of function. Given that it does not properly fill the gap, I would go so far as to say that it's pretty pointless other than the marginally increased area in the trigger guard giving some perceived improvement in the use of gloves. I also can't for the life of me figure out why they would make it just ever so slightly too small like that.

    +1

You're looking at $10 and $20 solutions to a $3 problem... The Gapper is really just about perfect.

If you really must have a larger trigger guard, then maybe you should grind the tail off the MOE piece and use the Gapper, too.

Be advised, there are two different models of the aluminum ETG. One is the type shown in the photos that takes the set screw in the front hole. The other (early?) style requires installation of the GI plunger assembly in the front hole and is designed to swivel down like the flat GI trigger guard. This style most definitely does not fill the gap at the rear.

I have one each of the aluminum types as well as the MIAD style. Preference is the non-folding aluminum with a MOE grip.

I use a Gapper on my Service Rifle (can't change the trigger guard due to Highpower rules), and it does the job. A foam ear plug works well here as a field expedient too.

The MOEs do seem to have a very small amount of the lowers ears still protruding.
This protrusion past the triggerguard is from 1/32" to about 1/8", most of mine are no more than about 1/16".
I don't know if it's 34yrs of shooting or what but I have a pretty large callous on inside knuckle of my middle finger on my right hand (which I have to trim once in a while). I think this callous keeps the lower/triggerguard from bothering my hand.

Pics of a Magpul MOE and standard aluminum Magpul triggerguard side by side. These were pulled off the wall at work and neither have been installed on a rifle.

I can't detect an dimensional differences of the two. Maybe Magpul change something.

Just swapped out the MOE TG for an aluminum one I had on hand...and I still see a bit of a gap even with the aluminum TG...
